so i have a 2010 tacoma double cab base v6 with 245 tires. i went to the gas station to add some air and i put 35 on all but the recommended is 29 and 32 in front and back. Did i put too much air because i couldnt remember how much air my mechanic used to put or is it my spare tire? the light is still on. do i need to reset it because i remember when the light came on, i added air and it went away

There should be a tpms reset button under the steering wheel.

You might try resetting before panicking. Not sure which years Toyota added the TPMS sensor to the spare, but it wouldn't be too hard for you to drop it and check for the hell of it. Normally they reset periodically so the light might not go away instantly, but perhaps after a 10 min drive or so. I'm on a 5 tire rotation and sometimes don't carry the spare with me (so i'll have only 3 sensors with the truck). After leaving my driveway, sometimes it'll take 20-30 minutes before the light turns on (the truck realizes one of the sensors is missing).

Also from 32-35, the sensors are still within their acceptable range of operation so resetting should turn the light off if everything is working as it should... I'd say after ruling out the spare TPMS as the culprit, resetting the sensors and making sure you have no leaks (wait overnight and check pressure again), then we can faithfully assume you have a bad sensor.

I've had a 14 and 15 and neither had TPMS on the spare, but I know for the '12-15 facelift trucks they took a bunch of stuff away from us that was standard before.

thanks for the response guys appreciate it. and @scottalot i know 3 lbs isnt alot but i think it maybe the reason the light is still other than that probably the spare. Should i just reset the light or try putting some air in the spare tomorrow? what you guys think?

If its not your spare tire being low you have lost a battery in one of the tires more than likely.

i have a feeling it maybe the spare tire havent put air in there for quiet awhile and i park my car outside and here in cali its been getting pretty cold and raining if that hasnt anything to do with my tires losing air or whatever.

I disabled my tpms light and never have to worry about that annoying thing again. Recently got new wheels and tires, had them put regular valve stems on there, saved a bunch of money too. Those tpms sensors are a crock, there's more problems there than just your sensors if you can't tell that your tire is flat
