I have been experiencing an increase in engine rpm's when I apply pressure to the accelerator pedal on my 2017 SR5, which also seems to negatively effect my gas mileage, and the more I depress the accelerator pedal the more the rpm’s increase and my gas mileage goes down.

Has anyone else had this same problem with their 3rd Gen. :goingcrazy:

My old truck did that too. Come to think of it, so does my new truck. Probably one if this little quirks I will have to live with. If it bothers you that much, maybe try a Tesla.

If you push on the brake while pushing on the accelerator your problem will go away..

For some reason, when I put it in R and stomp it, the truck goes backward really fast. I thought R just stood for rocket ship mode!?!?

This is why they put the hand parking brake lever in. Once you get to a speed/rpm range you are not comfortable with any more, pull that lever. It works really well in an open parking lot and it helps if you turn the steering wheel slightly too.

D is for "day" driving. N is for "night" driving. You all remember that.

My 2nd gen would do that, but nothing like my 08 Tundra 5.7 will now. I'm confident it's a worse issue than your 3rd gen taco is doing, so I'll suggest just learning to live with it and be happy with your truck.

Mine slips and flares between gears when I apply acceleration in the morning usually when cold. The gas mileage is not much better than my old 2003 ford ranger with 4.0L and 160k miles. Maybe 1mpg better. The driveline on my ford never slipped or made so much noise as this 3rd gen does. My 2003 tacoma I had before the Ranger was flawless. Our 2016 4runner built in Japan is flawless.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
No mine just had low MPG and high RPM. I don't know why. It might be due to the Yeti sticker I put on the window
