This is one of the 3 units I've narrowed my search down to... how do you like the unit now that you've owned it for a while? Any complaints?

Has anyone purchased the products from *********.com??? He has some interesting stuff. I like some of the reviews I've read about the Image Dynamics speakers he sells... but I'm also interested in Audiofrog. Anyone purchased either of them?

Taco tunes is hit and miss when you ask people about them. They seem to be better these days but I'm not really sure.

Overall I'm very happy with the unit when it comes to using it with Apple CarPlay. I can easily make calls, the microphone sounds good to callers on the other end, Pandora plays seamlessly, Apple maps and Google maps both work fine (note with apple car play Google Maps does not show on screen). Audio quality was a definite improvement over the stock non-JBL unit and factory speakers.

It does have its quirks when it comes to compatibility with an iPhone 6S (this is what I have) and the Pioneer App Radio stuff; perhaps its better with an android phone. In order for this to work I had to not only have the lightning cable but also the adapter to plug in the HDMI cable as well. That's not a big deal as I found a good path to route my cabling to where my phone is, but overall the functionality of Pioneer AppRadio and its "apps" was sub-par. For example Pandora would sometimes not play so I'd have to shut down the app on my phone plus shutdown the pioneer app radio app and restart both. I also had issues with other pioneer app approved "apps" like Waze not always loading up on screen without some finessing (unplug phone, restart app etc). Built in GPS WORKS GREAT especially if you're in an area with no cell phone coverage but I didn't like the fact that you have to have the pioneer app radio app running on the phone.

PM me if you want more info on this unit, I can talk more in detail about install and other functionality.

Anyone have any input on the ASWC-1 steering wheel control adaptor? The only thing holding me back from a HU install is the loss of steering wheel controls on my 2013 DCLB TRD Sport.

I had an ASWC-1 adapter in my 13 DCSB TRD Sport when I upgraded my stereo. It worked well for me over the course of two units (pioneer x920BT and NEX 5100).

    question:
I won some local 2 way speakers I think 6 or 6.5 inch for the door speakers on the tacoma. Can I simply plug them in and be fine or will I need to do all four doors and upgrade head unit and sub in back? Id like to just put them in the rear doors for now if possible

I am about to install the BOSS AUDIO BV9364B Double-DIN 6.2 inch Touchscreen either tomorrow or the next day into my 2011 Trd. The head unit is compatible with a backup camera and I'm wondering what is the best way to connect the stock cam to the aftermarket stereo.

If you have the stock head unit they will most likely be under powered. What speakers are they?

Probably not the correct place for this but I'll ask anyway...

I have a 2008 Doublecab Tacoma. For quite some time, I've wanted to upgrade the stereo to something OEM with Bluetooth. I do not want to have the installer perform extensive modifications to the dash. In fact, I'd prefer "plug & play" to the greatest degree possible.

    Caveats:

    1) The extent of my knowledge with radios and electronics is turning them on, using them, and turning them off. I am strictly a "user" (quote from Tron).

    2) I want everything to look OEM to the greatest extent possible.

Am I better off going to Toyota and asking them what will work and having no them do it? Or, should I go to Car Toys or Best Buy and have an interface cable installed to plug my phone into the radio?

Looking for some information: I bought a JVC KW-R920bts, and it will hopefully significantly improve the sound quality in the truck. Did anyone who has replaced their stereo buy a wiring harness? Does the wiring harness replace the harness that actually plugs into the back of the stereo, or will I have to splice into those wires with the harness and then it plugs into the truck? I would like to go the easiest/cleanest route. Also, how did you run the microphone? I would like to run mine up into the headliner and have it come out right by the plastic overhead console closest to the windshield. Lastly, what issues did you run into that I should anticipate? I still have to buy a dash kit and am debating about the steering wheel adapter kit.
