Great pics, great setup. Up here in the gooey Pacific NW the only hope in hell of having tomatoes growing is to have them in a greenhouse or covered well, otherwise the blight gets to them before they can all be harvested.

Don't worry, you're part of something really important! I love the responses and can't believe this turned into a legit thread with the exploding puppy and Chadspride. Now, if I could only get some more votes to increase my random sample.

I love tomatoes!....but not the store bought ones. Fresh out of the garden kind.
Gimme some sliced Big Boys or Big Girls..the kind that cover a whole slice of bread and I'm happy!

I don't even bother with store bought anymore, our garden has spoiled us. People who stop by and have never had fresh greenhouse tomatoes look shocked when they eat them.
Interesting side note, since eating our fresh tomatoes my girlfriend has experienced a sensitivity to them. After some research and a visit to a naturopath, home grown night shades especially heirloom varieties can become allergenic. She's currently off them and taking a probiotic specifically for healing food sensitivities in the gut. I'm suffering too cause it's no tomatoe dishes in the house...

I dated a girl that claimed she was allergic to tomatoes but really she just didn't like them and made a fuss about it at restaurants. That didn't last lol

This is a pretty funny thread to come up here. Tomatoes are often a subject of discussion especially when eating with someone for the first time. I hate them!!! I don't remember this, but my mom said when I was little that id tell everyone tomatoes were poisonous and you shouldn't eat them. As an adult I now say there are 2 things in life I will not eat: tomatoes being one of them and anything else that's able to outrun me

I haven't had a good tomato since I left Ohio. Just too hot in NC and Va. They brag in this area about tomato's being the best. But they are always pink. Give me a nice red juicy tomato from Ohio any day

I agree. People over use ketchup. They can't taste anything but ketchup. They my as well just chug the bottle.

We grow tomatoes every year here at our home, we especially love several of the heirloom varieties and plant them every year ( mortgage lifter yellow & red, supersweet 100, amish orange sherbet, brandywine )

Taqueria Style Salsa Recipe makes 32 oz - refrigerate left overs or can in small glass jars
    1.5 pound Tomatoes
    1.5 pounds Tomatillos
    1/3 medium red onion
    3 cloves garlic
10 Trimmed and seeded Arbol peppers
Roast tomatoes and tomatillos in oven, grill until soft - the skin should pull off
roast onion and garlic and peppers - peppers are found in the bulk package aisle of grocery stores, small red/orange an inch or so long, I like to taste my salsa not burn out my taste buds so I don't use the seeds.
Put in a blender until smooth.
Like it more red or green - just adjust the ratio of T to T.

I like cooking it in my smoker as I like the mesquite taste it adds

Stolen from http://www.mexicoinmykitchen.com/2013/06/salsa-taquera-taqueria-style.html?m=1 many years ago. Great site but many recipes are "one large" "a couple small" "several of" with no real measurements so some times it is hard to recreate. This is my take on it that everyone loves.

Makes a great topping for http://www.mexicoinmykitchen.com/2012/07/how-to-make-tacos-al-pastor-at-homecomo.html - if you have a smoker this is the recipe to try.

Personally, I love tomatoes every single possible way except fresh. So fresh on a burger, pico de gallo, etc is a no go. But anything else is
