Had that happen on a old vehicle. Didnt take the hitch out for 2 yrs or so. The pin had to be drilled out, but then I discovered the hitch was as good as welded into the receiver.....

It was a little lose to allow dirt to fall out. I cleaned it with alcohol and stuck a strip of velcro around(the soft loop side) it and pushed it into the receiver and it snugged right up, been on the truck for almost 2 years now and still no rattles. It has been bumped twice so far and not even a scratch. The two vehicles that hit it needed a grill replacement.

That is one of the reasons I grease the heck out of those parts before I install them. A combo of some thick grease and a couple wraps of duct tape keeps things easily removable.

I just leave the hitch with a 2" ball in the receiver. It has paid off several times either acting as a feeler when backing up or armor when some jackass rear ended me.

Has anyone ever seen a black background, with a red TRD hitch cover?
