    I have a 1997 4X4 I can not get the oil plug out. anybody have any ideal what to do.....Carl

    Tap the drain plug with a hammer, just be careful not to mess up the plug

    If its stripped, take a Dremel and turn it into a flat head. Then use a chisel, as a flat head since its thick and see if you can get it out. That has worked for me multiple times in the past.

    Are you CERTAIN that you are turning it in the correct direction (CCW aka lefty loosy)? If the plug is pointed away from you, and you're upside down under the truck, its entirely possible to attempt it the wrong way

    The dremel idea is a good one....

    If thats not doable fur whatever reason and its stripped there is the option of welding a new nut onto the bolt head. Use a cheater bar if need be, it will come off. Also as mentioned above make sure youre going the right way. Not saying you're stupid but ive done that very same thing a time or two since you're kinda thrown off due to being upside down...

    Is it all rusted?
