how did it do

 

went OK, kept it 60-65 most of the way. little squirrely around sharp turns, hope i didnt mess anything else up in the front, with binding and such. seems OK this am, made it in to work no issue.

How does that work for us not familiar with 2nd gens.

Did you disco the rear ds and remove the ring gear so the pinion gear and axle shafts can spin without hitting anything?

 

yep

 

yup, removed rear driveshaft, opened up diff and pulled the ring out. had to slide the rear axle shafts out as well to get clearance to pull the third member off. elocker didnt help either, had to make sure that little thing in there was in just the right place to give clearance to pull the axle shafts out enough. all done on the trail from about 130 till dark thirty. great help from all the guys up there, we had pretty much everything we needed tool wise and jacks. 2 high lifts, one truck kissing my rear bumper with his, and one truck in front with a strap on my front. truck was pretty stable at that point up in the air. we were not on flat ground.
