    racetrack road is better than saline valley and the road to eureka.

    Deckedera is a lot better then Mengel pass, why I have done it three times to the once for Mengel. That and you end up at saline hot springs with the naked hippies instead of furnace creek with the hordes of tourists...

    Send over that route, I wanna check it out.

    I was in 4wd a lot of the time. Mostly because I needed the lower gears with the manual trans and stock gearing. And 33's & 7000 lbs... with 4.56's and/ or FJ case with a twin stick setup (2 LO), most of it could have been done in 2wd. Also used 4wd on the 60 mph washboards. I needed the extra control when hucking a mobile tree fort on pizza cutters around those turns.

    After seeing Jason and Andy's rigs in action, I'm skipping over 285's and going straight for 315's. Especially when Andy decides he needs big brakes and sells me those F5's and MTP's.

    Because your tires are new and I am missing half my tread. I never said get 285's, I would have recommended 315's, just not 8 inch wide 315's....

    I run LeadNav on my iPad. And I inlay the California Trail Map boundary map over it so I always know what land boundary I'm in. I.e. BLM, national parks, natl forest, preservation, military etc. Nonetheless its a gpx file. It will run on Gaia, Gallileo, Garmin, and many others.

    I paid for multiple layers, so I have all kinds of maps and boundaries up on the screen at any one time. They have a public lands map layer that is pretty cool. I usually just use the USFS and USGS in and around death valley though.
