Hey guys, so I got the famous vibration after doing a leveling kit on my 06 tacoma. It doesn't seem as bad as others describe theirs, I'm going to try a diff drop and cross my fingers it works.

For my question: does any one happen to have the dimensions of the diff drop? I work at a machine shop so I was going to make my own verse spending 30 bucks on a "hopeful fix". I was going to use a mild steel, just need the dimensions.
    Thanks in advance!

    dont even bother.

60 bucks for the ECGS diff bushing and you are guaranteed to solve your problem. Diff drops hardly do anything on the 2nd gens.

You didn't even ask if the vibes went away when he engaged 4-Hi, or if they only occurred around 40mph, or if it was happening to a lesser extent before the lift.

That being said you're half right. The diff drop is widely considered useless on TW. OP save yourself some time and stack some washers in between the carrier bearing and the frame and see if dropping it makes your problem go away. When/if it does, fabricate yourself an actual steel spacer to go there permanently and go on about your business.

There was zero vibration before the leveling kit was installed, and yes it does go away when switched to 4hi. I have seen in some threads a few people have sloved the issue with a diff drop. I can make the spacers in a matter of minutes if I had the dimensions.

I don't think dropping the carrier bearing will do anything for me since the vibration in clearly coming from the front. If a diff drop does nothing for me that will be my next attempt at fixing.

I feel it my pedals the most at about 35, it goes away at 45ish. The vibration starts at about 15mph. But doesn't get louder or worse with increased speed, it stays pretty consistant

Then yup. Throw in that ECGS diff bushing and forget about the rest.

Okay I'll go with the ECGS, where would I get one from?

Is it going to destroy my diff if I keep driving it for another day or 2 before I get it fixed?

    Thanks for the help guys!

ECGS = East Coast Gear Supply

No, it wont' destroy anything. But the faster you fix it the faster you can get back to loving your truck.

Okay good, I was worried about something getting destroyed but with how minimal the vibration is i didnt think it would hurt anything, thanks for confirmation. Ill check out ECGS and get a diff bushing ordered.

Does the ECGS diff bushing help with cv angle at all? I found some dimensions for the diff drop bushing and I was thinking of doing both just for the fact that I don't like the angle of the cvs.

Surely the new angle of my cv's is going to wear them out faster, unless I'm mistaken?

so long as your boot fins are not touching your cv's will be fine, there is hardly any wear on the joints themselves. Dont bother running the diff drop, it rotates the diff more than it moves it down.

I just did a 2.5inch rancho quick lift with aal, and rs9000 in the back, noticed the front end noise your experiencing. I am going to do the diff drop this week, I was quoted 350 for install and parts for the bushing. The noise does go away when I go into 4HI.

Let me know how the diff drop works out for you,

350 is pretty steep, the drop kit is 30 bucks online and it can be installed with basic tools. I'd save yourself a couple hundred bucks and do it yourself. Easy to find a how to video for diff drop Install.

The 350 is for the ECGS bushing install, the diff drop looks pretty straight forward, and I will do that myself. Just wanted to pass on the cost of the bushing install, one other thing to think about is changing the diff fluid when you do the diff bushing install.
