Front Body Mount Noise Fix - That noise may not be your leaf springs

Even if he jacked your idea there has to be a better way to handle that. You'll fit in well in the 3rd gen forum.

 

So on the factory mount, the lower bushing is larger than the upper one, but on the ES bushing the larger one is the upper. The larger Energy Suspension Bushing and the upper factory bushing are about the same thickness, the larger top bushing also has the nipple like the factory one that the metal hardware goes into. The lower ES bushing is much smaller than the factory one, but it doesn't really matter because it is on the bottom and not supporting anything, even though it is smaller though, it is a heavier duty material, so I believe still stronger.

If you went with the smaller Energy Suspension bushing on top, you would be lowering the body.

Leave it up to the newbie 3rd gen owner to totally misconstrue my tone on a forum post. There was no way of handling nothing. I was asking if he got his info from the 2nd gen forum and referred to the thread OP'd by me. I didn't say "Oh hey asshole, that idea is mine and boo on you for jacking my information and using it as your own" now did I? I was typing it as I speak in my usual montone, calm sounding voice. What I said was all there was. A statement and a question, that's all there was to it. Nothing more, nothing less. Good day to you sir.

 

Is this something mall crawlers have to worry about?

 

What torque spec are you using to secure the bushings?

 

body mounts are not the same. need to fabricate mounting plates. the distance between the mounting bolt holes is wider than the second gen.

I think I have the same issue and plan on bringing it to the dealer to get fixed. Since I will be out of town, they can keep the truck until its fixed.

Question:

1. I'm lifted with full OME kit - can the dealer use this reason to deny service? I think I know what to say to them but suggestions are welcome.
2. Can I buy the Energy bushings and have them install in place of the faulty OEM ones?

 

I want to know this too as I have a 2nd gen. Could I follow this 3rd gen write-up?

I recently installed new suspension, 2.5 kings all around a Tc uca, and new deaver leafs.

My truck started squeaking like crazy. And I've been so worried I installed my shit wrong! Hahaha but then I remembered the same sounds were on my 05 tacoma that I had as a mall crawler lol 6" Fabtech.

So this whole time it was the body mints !?!! My new Taco only has 20,000 miles on it But because of the lift you think this really could be the culprit !? I'd be so relieved

 

I had a squeak that was driving me nuts ended up being not enough grease on the UCA bushings.im running the SPC UCAs
I've read those TC UCAs can be squeaky because of the uniball

@Victory Supurb write-up. I printed out your write-up and it effortlessly guided me through the install! I did this fix on my truck a few weeks ago with the

$34 9.4101G UNIVERSAL MOUNT

9.4101G universal kit. After I did, I noticed some noise from the front end. Mind you, I did not have noise before hand. I did this as a preventative measure kind of deal. My bushings were half way rubbed through, and no where near as bad as yours. My truck had 5200 miles on it at the time. After doing more digging in the original 2nd gen thread, I learned that the Tacoma specific kit comes with all body and the radiator support bushings, but is tailored for the 2nd gen trucks. That kit number is

$153 8.4109G Body Mount Set-Reg, Access & Dbl Cab

8.4109G. I ordered that kit and installed the radiator support bushings included, and I have no more noise from the front end. It was obvious the 8.4109G kit was tailored for the 2 front bushings at least. Not sure about the rest of the body mounts and if they will work on a 3rd gen. The noise I was hearing was popping and knocking while going over bumps, and especially leaving my driveway on a cold morning. With the bushings from the Tacoma specific kit installed, I have no noise anymore. Not saying that the universal kit will not work for everyone, it just did not work out well for me. That is also pointed out by others in the 2nd gen install thread who experienced the same as me. Food for thought for anyone else looking to do this upgrade.

 

I assume there are instruction on proper orientation for install of the front bushings? With the universal kit it seems some people put the big one on top and some put the small one on top. Is there an option like that for the

8.4109G or do they only get installed one way?

8.4109G kit. They are exactly like the stock ones except polyurethane and can only be installed exactly as the stock mounts are. See the two pics below. I copied them from the 2nd gen thread about this issue.

You're welcome! The only other thing I can add is there are two different size washers. The large one (2" OD) goes on the upper mount between the body and the mount, and the smaller one (1 3/4" OD) goes between the bottom mount and the original washer and nut holding it all together.
