Found a shop to press out the old bearing and press on the new as well as pressing on all the other stuff.
Now I've run into a problem...my axle shaft won't fit all of the way in when I place the outer seal in the place my friend told me too.
I was instructed, maybe ridiculously incorrectly, that the outer seal goes-over the axle shaft, covers the inner most retainer ring and inside of the bearing case. The first seal I had fit that description perfectly, but made it impossible to insert the axle shaft setup. Without it on I have no problem hooking everything back up.
Napa confirmed it was the wrong seal and exchanged it for one that is way too big of diameter to function as a seal/debris shield.

I guess the basic question to start is "where does the outer seal go?"

The best parts diagram I can find is for a Tundra, and it shows that I was misinformed and that the outer seal is hidden from view between the axle shaft flange and corisponding gaskets, and "inside" of the brake backing plate. Is this the same for a Tacoma?

Unfortunately the guy who pressed the bearing is off till next week (inconvenient timing) so I can't ask him about it. For some reason the new seal, maybe he reused the old, wasn't used by him when he did the work for me.

IMG_3043.jpg was was it supposed to be pressed where I am pointing?
Is is hidden by the backing plate and new bearing?
Or does it go (above in the picture) so it covers the inner retaining ring?

I replaced my a rear wheel bearing years ago and can't quite remember how it all went together.
Here is what I would do.

The ABS ring should be right under the ABS sensor. If it is not.....switch things around until it is.

    There's a bit of logic.
I also thought that maybe the new seal wasn't used because it was the wrong one. Sure would be nice to just be able to give the guy a call.

I'm like 75% sure that abs axle shafts and non abs axle shafts have different seals.

Well I'll be...found my answer in the article I found in the stickies when I tore into the taco and realized the reAr axle is nothing like the Dana 70 on my Cummins. Real handy article if you read it more carefully than I did. Apreciate your help guys.

Life lesson, don't take advise from a guy if you are dating his ex hahaha

"Here’s a picture of the assembly as it sits on the axle (after removal from the vehicle). The top of the Bearing is visible pressed into the backing plate. The Olive/Light Gray colored plastic ring you see is a grease seal built into the bearing. Next is the first of the two Retainers. Not visible in the picture is the Snap Ring, but I believe it sits above the first of the two retainers, holding the retainer in place. Just above that sits the Skid Control Rotor (or ABS exciter ring), that looks like a gear. Finally, on the top you have the second Retainer keeping the Skid Control Rotor in place. The Outer Shaft Oil Seal is not visible as it is on the other side of the bearing"
