I have my rear bumper build sketched and all mapped out, How thick of steel do you think I should use, I will make a thread on the build once I start

try going to some of the vendors and review their products. should say what they use in descriptions. thats just my thought.prolly 3/16 or 1/8 steel for shell and 1/4'' for brackets that connect to truck frame.

Totally agree. If you plan on adding a swing-out at time I would go with the 3/16. A little heavier, but more solid in holding the extra weight of a tire plus tire carrier over a long time.

I just built a rear bumper and used 3/16th for all of it. I also kept the trailer hitch, so the additional tie in point provided plenty of strength.

Couple of beers, a few boxes and some pictures are all you need! I stated with mounts to the frame that outline the profile I wanted for the bumper. Thenot I cut the piece at the top of the bumper and what mounted to the trailer hitch using near stock dimensions off of the factory bumper... theninja you just have to fill it in.
