New Air Filters

    I went and got my free oil change at Toyota and they asked if I wanted to pay for a new air filter and a new cabin filter and I told them no. They were going to charge me $70 and I knew that I could get it done myself for half of that. I am not sure where to get a cabin filter from but is this a good air filter for the truck http://www.autozone.com/external-en...mance-air-filter/576195_0_20339?checkfit=true . It says it is able to be washed and cleaned. Is that worth it or should I just buy the basic filter for $20.

    You can give your cabin an extra 5-10hp with the K&N cabin air filter :)

    The K&N some people say lets in more fine particulates then paper. Actually I think its been proven to do that... But it will pay for itself with like 2 or 3 filter changes. Especially if you live in a dusty area. As for cabin filters, any brand will do. walmart sells them for about 14 bucks.

    I didn't even notice it said that it improved HP, I was just looking at the "reusable" feature. I was just wondering if it was worth the extra money since it says it only needs to be changed every 50,000 miles.

    you will get mixed review on TW. some people, like myself, swear by only EOM products while others believe K&N provides better air flow and will last forever. I had a K&N on my old SUV and it worked fine although I probably over-cleaned it.

    honestly, it's personal preference.

    AFE Pro Dry is a good dry, washable, reusable filter without the oils that come on the K&N air filter. Oiled K&N's are notorious for ruining MAF sensors.

    I live in a dusty area so I change mine when I change the oil. You can pick up a cabin air filter at any auto parts store--don't put a lot of thought into it--just get whichever one they have on-hand.

    I just bought one from autozone for like $20. There possibly can't be that big of a difference between that and the dealer one (I hope not at least)..

    I use K&N for all my cars. I beleive that it has a better flow then the paper one, but not noticeable increase of power. I also have the cleaning kit.

    For air filters just use whatever's cheap and change them regularly.

    Unless you're boosted there's no difference in power. Even if you're boosted the difference is minimal.

    Pretty sure dealer has been charging me close to $30

    OEM air filters have more surface area than aftermarket. I live in a very dusty area, even winters are dusty at times. I threw my POS K&N in the trash - I could see daylight through the holes, and it was new.
