Well bought the wrong buckles. These ones only adjust on one side and that won't work for the design. Did get to do some testing and I already wish I had made it bigger but I think it will serve its purpose well for a month while I figure out what I like and don't like about the design.

    IMG_0305.jpg
    IMG_0304.jpg
Here the basics. Shoes, shorts and jacket. Wraps nice and tight but I wish I had thought out a way to make a lid or close the top.
    IMG_0308.jpg
    IMG_0306.jpg

This isn't as important because this is just holding what i typically wear to the gym (boots, jacket and jeans). This is were I wish I had more width and length but everything it nice and secure. It will easily fit in the lockers we can use too.

One way to combat this is to move the boots to the outside like so.

    IMG_0309.jpg

Everything is secure and easy to move.

I'll be adding pockets to it sometime but I think I'll wait until I get my buckles to continue. That way I can use it for a week and see what I want added to it.

Awesome! Unique design. It kinda reminds me of the HPG Tarahumara pack I've drooled over for years.

That's a nice pack! I largely based it off my stoneglacier solo pack since it is so easy to adjust to any size. I think this could make an awesome day pack with some additional work and adding some rigidity to the back.

Still sitting on the tent material. Been super stressed/busy looking for jobs. I may get to it over spring break but not sure.

For simplicity purpose, what about getting some Reflectix http://www.reflectixinc.com ?
You could make a pattern from some pattern paper, then cut the Reflectix. Then put velcro on back, so you could take in or out easily.. You could put whatever material on top of it via spray adhesive to cover if you wanted to leave it in, maybe carpet to help with condensation, if you're gonna be in there..

    Just a thought.

These things are so much better than the old loud clutch ones.. I put one on my CONSEW, BIG difference, so nice not hearing the noise, plus the speed adjustability is awesome.

I've also gotten materials on ebay. The material itself was 500D coated, it was good material but the QC wasn't great, I ordered another couple yards later in the same color but it wasn't even close to the same color when it arrived.

I did find a local place that stocks a lot of specialty marine and auto upholstery materials that I prefer to go to, not any use to you but I'm happy to have them around. https://www.midwestfabrics.com/

I'm waiting on an industrial embroidery machine to to come in. I needed to move up to something that could do hats better than the one I have.

Made a custom little duffel for pops' giant canopy. #10 zipper and 1000D material. I did it the easy way, it's just a scaled up zippered bag. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en4pScOLZ9E

Thanks, I'll have to check those sites out..

What kind did you get, what's the price going for those?

I've been thinking of doing patches.

    Cool
    That reminds me,
I have couple of extra issued seabags and duffel bags, I've been wanting to take them apart and use for patterns with other material..

I like that heat cutter he's using, with the exception of the fumes, that'd be the way to go..

I have a sailrite hot knife. It's amazing and has been worth every penny. We made 20 of those bags over xmas as gifts and I cut through 5 layers at a time with ease. Really sped up the prepping process. Finished product was professional with no fraying pieces. We were stoked about it an the recipients thought they were from kifaru.

The downside is they send a sailrite catalog with the purchase. We are now looking forward to decorating our house with fabric from sailrite.

@medic2230 do you make your own hats? I have a giant dome and have to wear xxl hats. None of the sweet fishing/outdoor brands sell hats that size so I am stuck with plain Hats.

I watched a few videos on diy hats and was amazed. I don't have the machines (or the money for them) right now but I really hope to have them in the future. I'll be seeing if I can't get some custom patches made and then have a local company sew them on.

The one I have now was $8k plus all the tread and stabilizer you have to buy. Mine is a commercial version. I have a Brother PR655.

New one is an industrial version and they can vary in price used. New they run around $12k and up. New one is also a brother BE-901.

Yeah man, I make all my own and make them for people. I'm releasing this one when the new machine gets here.

    IMG_2934.jpg IMG_2946.jpg

Going to sell this patch also. Just want to do it with the new machine that is faster. Takes a while to do 20k stitches.

Yeah I could see the benefit of the knife.. I think I may have to get one, that's nice how it melts the edges while cutting.. Does it have a good edge? Or is it pretty much cutting due to heat? I was thinking if it's just the heat it probably wouldn't be good for "un synthetic" materials..

    haha the catalog.

    Dazammm.. I've never priced those...
Guess you're getting serious with it..? obviously haha
I'd thought of picking a machine up to do patches etc, but guess I'm gonna have to re think that if that's what they're going for...
