I have a 2009 Tacoma 2.7L with a K&N cold air intake. I got it in Hawaii and had it registered there and recently moved to California.

In the process of getting registered here I went to go get smog check and the guy told me it won't pass because I didn't have a sticker. After contacting K&N is how I found our it's not legal here. I also don't have the stock one to put on anymore either. (Movers stole it along with some other stuff)

I tried another place and got the same response once they saw the intake. I went to another place and got screwed. The mechanic opened the hood, saw the intake, still ran the test (which passed), and failed me because of the intake and still charged me.

Anybody in California, northern or southern, know a place that I might be able to go? Or know where I can get a stock intake to switch back to? I don't want to pay the $700 at the dealership to do it.

Emissions might pass with it installed but visual will never pass unless it's an illegal smog. Borrow one or trade someone who wants a K&N and never worry about it again..... it's California!

    Too few to list.
Look into craigslist, I come across the stock intake for sale once in a while.
