Here is a well balanced opinion from a more qualified person (IMO)

Yes but "flush" is not recommended. Never said not to change fluid I said don't flush,,,, not my preference do what you want. :)

drain n fill, pan drop and clean the filter, and flushing the cooler lines are all good things. Flushing the entire trans can be harmful, "can be" doesn't mean it will

Thank you for your help! That is all I had commented to OP

@Justinlhc fyi. I'm at 111k on my 08 Taco and 380k on my '01 Echo never flushed (only drain and fill at 250k on echo) and both doing fine And have always service at dealership.

Yea, I'm not sure on the whole transmission flush thing. I don't ever see a need to flush a transmission completely. Aside from that, I've got a 5 speed manual here. Very straightforward.

I actualy only tow a small tiny boat that is like 500 pounds so not really. Why would it do more harm?

    Too few to list.
It's chain driven and no need to replace water pump unless it's either leaking or squeaking.

No, the towing that light will not harm anything. I asked because if you haven't put it under a lot of pressure or heavy loads or tow that boat every weekend it is likely a drain and fill would do fine. if you want to flush - flush - just make sure the person doing it has the correct equipment and knows exactly what they are doing.

I'd trust a trans shop for that over a dealership.

Does anyone know what the estimated service mileage is to replace the fluid? I figured close to 100k it would be a good idea. but I Have no idea on how long it should be

If it makes you feel better my buddy bought a 2007 Tacoma used and drove it for 4 years and almost got what he paid for it when he sold it.
It was in good shape, had 30 people call about it.

I think Toyota used to say it never needs to be changed during the life of the transmission meaning you wait until it fails. They have changed their recommendation to 60k now I believe.

yeah... I think it wouldnt hurt... my truck shifts a little hard (not bad) but I have heard changing the fluid out will help tremendously
