Some nice hiking up your way though. We hiked up to Chena springs last time we were up there.

The Fairbanks area definitely has its own beauty. It would be nice to VISIT. The extreme temperature swings get old. And we only get 4 hours of sunlight right now. The summers make up for it!

@ROK-NJA Thanks for the awesome gifts dude! All these things were great but I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a real wheel hub ice cream maker lol jk, that box was hilarious and will definitely be reused next year. I love the camping theme and will be using all of it on the next camping adventure. I'm trying to get my wife into it but we don't have much gear yet and this is a big help, much appreciated.

    Hello Nvrenuf,

My apologies for the late reply, I wanted to take the time to properly address your post.

TacomaWorld Secret Santa (TWSS) has been going on for... many years, personally I have 3 years under my belt as a elf, I believe Alex has 4, Benson X at 3, and theredofshaw is a new elf but a very hard working one! Before us there was another group running the gig. It's truly a special time of year, seeing the turn out and how creative and thoughtful this community is. Not many times will people get someone they actually know, maybe even communicated with previously on the forum. But yet, you can see the spirit of TWSS really take hold.

A couple good things to know:
    1. The sign up period is between Oct 15th and Nov 15th, and we put a little announcement/banner on the front page. Keep an eye out!
    2. Being an "active" member isn't necessarily required... But it is expected that if you participate in TWSS that you can at least commit that you will be active enough to communicate with elves when needed, and confirm when you have received a gift. We haven't put a lot of stress on this because we really haven't had too many issues with it in the past. Last year I was running this thread, and I'd say out of the ~230 we only had maybe 7 I couldn't get a hold of. This year seems to be growing. So unfortunately we are going to have to find a way to weed out these individuals in the future. As much as we dislike not allowing everyone in our reindeer games, we don't want bad apples that will ruin the event for the other 200+ of us!
    3. John has been doing a phenomenal job at linking each gift received post/picture up with all the names in the 2nd post, so if you only want to see the goods and not all the BS, click through those.
Lastly let me address your generous offer to sign up as a back-up Santa. It is not often that we get someone that missed the event that signs up to be a back-up Santa. So let me personally thank you for doing so. This is the genuine spirit of TWSS.

I look forward to having you on the list next year

    Sincerely,

    707

Stupid question about back up Santa.

If called upon, what is the time frame that the backup Santa is allowed to get something and send it out?

Curious in case I become one and missed something about that.

You're given an ample 10-15 minute window for response, purchase, and shipment.
