I love Chad's products, they are very well made.

I ziptied some foam I had leftover from products being shipped and made a pad for the kayak.

Next mod will be D-rings in the front of the bed and my budget rack is complete.

    Too few to list.
This is a lot more involved than I thought. Just this section took 3 hours with the deadner base and insulation foam on top.

At 500 miles, I replaced my stock exhaust with a TRD cat back. I got bored with the TRD system, so I cut and painted my stock exhaust and put it back on. Nice, clean look. I like it better.

i went to add some extra D rings on those wonderful bolts that hold the bed down near the cab. The damn things were too rusted for me to get them out. got one up about an inch but was too nervous about it breaking, figured, lets try the other side, wouldn't even budge .... might try again next summer

Added a Raspberry Pi 3 with a 2TB hard drive running as a wifi hotspot. The Kindle Fire tablets run Kodi and attach to the seat back with a magnetic mount.

I would love to learn more about this, anywhere in particular I should start looking? I don't know much about hot spots, but that looks like quite the handy set-up you have there. you mind going into a little more detail about the configuration you have going on?

Some additional details for you guys:

I'm taking my family on a 3 week road trip from San Diego to Glacier, Yellowstone, etc in June and wanted to ensure my kids survive the journey. They're pretty good travelers when we're on flights, so I took the In Flight Entertainment as inspiration for this build.

At the heart of this build is a Raspberry Pi 3 running a wifi hotspot and a 2TB Western Digital hard drive. The Anker power strip (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OHE8AOI) is important because it pumps out enough juice to where the Pi can power the HD without an external USB hub. The USB strip also powers the tablets. The 12v adapter in the center console is hooked up to constant power.

Software-wise, the Pi is running vanilla Raspbian and shares the HD with Samba. For the hotspot, I am running the fantastic "create_ap" by Github user "oblique" (https://github.com/oblique/create_ap). create_ap can be installed as a system service to take all the networking pain out of setting up an access point. My startup script is modified to detect whether a second wifi device is hooked up so it can optionally share my home Internet connection with the tablets for the occasional app/game install.

The circular white thing on the front is a button hooked up to the GPIO on the Pi. When pressed, a script running on the Pi issues a clean shutdown so as to avoid corrupting the memory card (a future build will have the OS run as read-only so can just pull power without the clean shutdown).

The tablets are Kindle Fire 7" (bought on Black Friday for peanuts) running Kodi (the media center formerly known as XBMC). A couple other offline friendly games are installed making the whole thing capable of running without an Internet connection.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

so is the Pi connected thru your wireless provider to be able to emit the wifi, I do apologize if that sounds dumb. like I can turn my phone into a wifi hot spot and connect my laptop to it and it will use up my data when I download or stream. I'm just trying to wrap my head around how exactly the Pi is broadcasting wifi.
