    I have read so many posts that I want to :annoyed:. I would love some feedback on other people's experiences.
    I have a 14 dclb with stock coils, 5100s set at 2.5 and 1.5 blocks in the rear. 90k+ miles on this and it has been good to me. BUT it's time for an upgrade. I drive a lot for work now and do mild off road trails. So, I'm heavily leaning towards dakars in the rear but love the 1"rake I have now. I'm thinking Bilstein 6112 but I'm going right back to a preload spring setup if I want 3". I see great reviews from people running them at the 3rd and 4th setting. I've heard very little from anyone at the 5th setting. The other option is the OEM 877 setup but have seen mixed reviews on the shocks not being much different from the 5100s. My end goal is to do it right this time and still keep the 1" to 1.5" rake. UCA are in my plans too. Yes, I know Icon and King are the holy grail but my needs don't justify the cost. I don't run any extra weight right now but have some relentless fabrication rock sliders on order. That's 2+months of painful waiting. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Is anyone running Bilstein 6112 on the 5th setting?

    What's your budget?

    I wouldn't really consider 5100 -> 6112 as the greatest upgrade.

    Screenshot_20161208-175955.jpg Screenshot_20161208-180321.jpg I've heard only good things about the 6112. It's not as popular as OME or others so you don't hear much. I have found a place that sells the 6112 and 5160 for $908 to the door. I would love to hear some personal experience with them. There is a huge difference between 6112 and 5100. From what I've read the standard OME are more comparable to the 5100. Besides the cult following that OME has. I have no personal experience with either one. I'd like to keep the shocks f&b around $1000. give or take. If the right setup cost $1400 then that's what I'll do. If I can spend under a thousand and get a great setup then that's what I'll do then. I still have dakars and uca to get too.

    I can tell you that 6112 rides better than the 5100. I had my shop install everything and they work on alot of Tacomas. They test drove my truck after installing 6112 and said it rides alot better than the 5100 as well...Plus 6112 are beefier and have better valving than 5100 is what i heard. I don't know how the OME's ride since i've never had them on my truck.

    Btw, when I say "rides better" I'm talking about both on/off road.

    I will probably get those next for the adjustability and better ride. For now I'm happy with my 5100s and 885s. You should check in the Suspension subforum there is a huge thread for 6112s

    Thanks! I've been through every thread I can find. There is a lot of dancing around subjects or its a different situation than mine. Someone talking about their experiences on the 2nd or 3rd setting will give me a ballpark idea but I'm looking at the 5th setting and would think that changes a lot. I could be wrong but that's why I'm asking. Not try to :deadhorse: but trying to find information closer to what I want to do. Any information or feedback is greatly appreciated.

    I am running 6112s (top setting) and 5160s on mine. 15,000 miles of awesomeness. I love the ride, both on and off road (I largely commute on highways, but do a fair amount of 4wheeling). To me, the 6112s make the truck feel much less wobbly (duh, look how thick the bastards are). I do not have a steel bumper yet, so it took them quite awhile to settle, but they've felt great since the jump.

    Why not go with a coilovers that is rebuildable? I believe th Fox 2.5 is close in price to the 6112.

    I've definitely thought about it but didn't want to rebuild the Fox every year. I put on around 45k a year. I've got 90k on the 5100s and they are still going strong. If my thinking is wrong, please help me understand. I've just read that you get 35k out of Fox shocks and then have to rebuild them and have to worry about who has nitrogen.

    Length of time between rebuilds depends on how you're using them. If most of your mileage is on the street you should be able to get a couple years between rebuilds. Finding a shop to rebuild them should be easy (Icons have to be sent back to the factory to be rebuilt...Fox and king can be rebuilt at most off-road shops).
