    Hi there,

I am looking at getting back into a 2nd gen, a used 12 sport w/ JBL DCSB with 87k.

I test drove it tonight. It has brand new duratracs on it, brand new front brakes, and a great maintenance history.

I have two concerns I was hoping youd help with.

1.) The truck's seat shakes a bit on the highway. Is this normal with duratracs? It feels like a tire is out of balance. The steering wheel is smooth.

2.) When I push the A/C button, the light comes on but I don't hear the engine change pitch at all. I had a 2011 which you could hear the difference between A/C on or off. At the time I checked, the ambient air temp was 6 degrees F. I am not sure if it was not cycling because it didnt need to or if its broken.

    Thanks so much.

    1. That's tell me you have a rear tire that is out of balance or just a bad rear tire.
    2. I can't help with #2 as I live in Arizona and our lows are about 40 degrees.

Well, does the AC work when you turn it on?

As for the seat shaking, I presume you are referring to the passenger seat, if that so is the case, it is normal actually.

haha, no. I forgot about the passenger seat shake. I mean like the whole driver's seat is shaking on the highway. Like the previous poster said, it seems like a tire is out of balance. I just didn't know if it was normal for duratracs, i has Destination A/Ts on my previous truck.

Never had duratracs but have read that some have issues with balancing them. Can't help with the AC question but if it works then I wouldn't worry about it, I don't feel a noticeable difference in the engine when the AC is on.

My 12 TRD sport does change IDLE when I turn on the a/c, but I don't notice anything when driving.

Also my rear tires have flat spots and my whole cab shakes like a madman. But...Probably balencing or bad tires as said above for our case.

The defrost uses the AC compressor too. Try that. open the hood and see if its kicking in and out. Beware of the secondary air/exhaust pump thing on the 2012s. Its a known issue that is quite expensive to fix

I have a 2012 DCSB with Duratracs. I have just about 10k on the tires and have never felt a shake.

Just had DuraTrac installed on my truck and two of them did require quite a bit of weight both inside and out... no shaking though.
