Changed plugs and pcv yesterday because of excessive oil use (trouble shooting). Using two and a half quarts every 1,500-2000 miles so something had to happen. Opened my oil fill cap and BAM there it was. Looks like water in my oil, but my oil is clean on the stick.

Moisture buildup from bad pcv and plugs? #6

Looks like condensation rather then a coolant leak, so perhaps the PCV was your problem.

Ive seen that plenty of times on many different vehicles. Usally happens when its colder out and the vehicle is driven short distances and never getting up to temp. I had a 2013 Tacoma TRD OR AC 4.0 and it did the same thing. Make sure you check inside and wipe out the cap. Allso the manual states plugs every 30,000.

I sure hope so. I don't know where the oil is going because it doesn't smoke but I'm 2-2 1/2 low in between changes. I do on the other hand have black suet (like a diesel) caked in my tailpipe.

Do you see any oil in the coolant?

@Turdyota3000, what you see in the oil filler neck and under the cap is caused by trips that are too short for the engine to reach an maintain operating temp long enough to cook out all the moisture in the motor. It is a good idea to drive the truck every now and then for 30+ minutes to get it up to temp and get the moisture out. What you are seeing is "normal" for our engines. If you see milky oil on your dipstick, or buildup in the coolant overflow tank, that is when you need to worry.
My suggestion, go enjoy a drive once or twice a week. If you don't already, throw in a couple WOT accelerations (after it is warmed up), it will help clear moisture buildup in the exhaust system.

I bought a 2005 Toyota Tacoma two years ago. When I did my first oil change after my purchase I noticed that same kind of milky residue underneath the Cap and in the filler neck as well. I called the dealership where I bought the truck and they said to bring it in and they look at it while I was there did they did a sniff test, a pressure test and an oil change as well. Everything came out just fine and they said it was probably just condensation. I wish I still had the photo because it looked exactly like what you are showing. Nothing to worry about, just normal condensation.
