Ok for starters I have an 08 prerunner with a V6 manual. I've been doing some research here and I'm I between a couple of options. In the last few days I've gotten a pretty bad vibration from the driveline when on the accelerator. My throw out bearing has been squeaking almost since I got the truck so I thought maybe it had finally went out. I've never experienced this before so I'm not confident in that diagnosis. I've also read about drive shaft weights falling off and the carrier bearing going bad. After putting the rear end on jack stands and running the truck in gear to 2000-2500rpm (my usual operating range) I didn't see any visual movement in the drive shaft. Maybe not having an actual load on the drivetrain hid the problem? Please help

Universal joints are good and after some further investigation and a couple more experienced eyes I'm fairly certain it's the carrier bearing. I'll be checking for lost weights on the driveshaft when I pull it all out in the next day or so

I'm not sure of the rarity of it but, I knew as soon as I saw it on the lot and drove it I had to have it. No cruise or power options but it suits me just fine. She's my baby

Caltech90 thanks for that. I've definately been needing it. My right foot likes to cruise around 65 but that's not always the speed limit

Well it wasn't the center support bearing so I'll call that preventative maintenance lol. I've got to say I'm stumped now. Could the throwing bearing cause that kind of vibration? I know they're an issue on these trucks. Motor and transmission mounts look good and I didn't notice any missing weight spots on the driveshaft. Any help would be appreciated

My drive line vibration was from very worn out center u-joint .

I very highly doubt it's the throw out bearing. The throw out bearing is before the transmission so that force would have to make it all the way through the transmission which is damn near impossible. Plus, the transmission is directly coupled to the engine (IE: bolted SOLIDLY to it) so you'd have this type of vibration seemingly coming from the engine too. Your vibrations are behind the transmission for sure.

That was my line of thinking. I'm more of a parts changer than a mechanic though. All the u-joints seemed fine when I had them out of the truck last night and that's about as far as my diagnostic skills go. I'm going to take it to a shop and get another opinion before I just throw money at it.

Please let me know what you find out. Same issues here. All u-joints and carrier bearing replaced, no luck.. Only happens for me between 15-25 mph. Not RPM dependent. Does it in 1st and 2nd, but only notice when I actually "get on it".

Will do buddy. Mine is more abound 45-70. I'm gonna take a long shot and take it by the tire shop since I've got a year warranty on anything that happens to them. Not really thinking I slung a weight but it's worth a shot.

That does sound like a balance issue. Check for RIM damage on the inside. This can affect the weight. Also, look into Road Forced balance. Not an expert here, far from it. But just throwing out ideas to see what sticks.

That is an interesting theory. And an even more interesting read. I'll find out at the tire shop this afternoon.
