I have an 09 Tacoma trd sport. With about 4 inches of lift. I keep having problems with my support bearing going out because of the angle of the drive shaft. I tried a support bearing drop kit and it did nothing. I've replaced it numerous times and each time it cost me close to $500. I just called today and I am about to order a one piece drive shaft. The company is Tom Woods. I got a price of $479 shipped to my door. Anyone have any personal experience with single piece drive shafts on their 2nd gen taco?

Not on a taco but I used to have an 89 Nissan hardbody lifted 3".
C bearing went out once and I went single shaft and never had the problem again.

I have a one piece that I had made locally. It did cure my take off and low RPM vibes.

The problem is that without the center bearing, being a long heavy driveshaft, it'll start to spin in an oblong fashion at a certain RPM. I get vibes between 80-90ish MPH. I'm on 35's and re-geared to 4.56 with an auto. Your results may vary... on 33's the vibe started at 75 MPH.

For me, it's fine. I don't need to drive 80 MPH anyway.

I'm considering having an aluminum Drivshaft made and swapping the steel one in when I hit the trails. I want a spare anyway.

Tom Woods is the best guy to handle your shafts!

Uh wait, that doesn't sound right...

But they are the best. I've had one of their shafts in all my jeep rigs through out the years. Great service all around.

Subbed for street truck.... I've ripped the ujoint out and warped the driveshaft yolk when I did it... Shop redid the gold and aligned my driveshaft to a better angle for my application, but I wonder if this would help with launch....

This is very interesting. Why don't other vehicles (larger full size trucks) have this issue? Is there a way to keep this from happening with a single piece drive shaft?
