Full disclosure is you have to ask what you're looking to get into? I'm bringing 10 gallons because I plan on overlanding plenty away from camp against the direction of a gas station from camp and then returning to fuck off and toy around camp and hit sand dam (I'm not light). The nearest gas station from camp is a solid 20-30 ish off road.

It was just fine the 1st 10 times especially in 4wd, then a few in 2wd. Keep in mind that rojo was Sand Beast! Countless hours of railing dunes way nuttier than that lil mole hill out in pisbro and even glamis. But... Superstition always ups the anti with buried boulders in the sand :pout: live and learn, sometimes the hard way  Worst part about it all was truck was the best it ever was the day before through the big stuff! And I was just talking about setting date for cage hehe. In the end I may come back bigger n better but never the same.

For all u newbies and even old timers remember this, things can and will go wrong, let ur gaurd down or think "meh I've done this a million times" can bite ya in da ass!!!

I bring about 5 to 10 gallons with me so I also don't need to drive into town. Closest station is at the 78 and 111. About half hour away.
I think your truck is the final thing that convinced me ok need to cage the truck this year.

It convinced me not to ride in an uncaged truck unless it's on the streets lol

I don't bother to. If I'm running low on fuel I'll drive to Ocotillo or Brawley and fill up. Both are about 15-20 miles away on the street, less in dirt. But I also like to grab a burger in town too.

I went plenty of years without the cage. Plus the truck handles so much better now.

You got a fuel cell though.

I recommend topping off at the Golden acorn casino if coming from San Diego. Gas is almost a buck more at the chevron at ocotillo wells.
