Ohh and let me ask if you have ever been the brunt of the complaints from some old crack whore who didnt like your policy on coupons. Or one that used all her time siting in her government housing to write letters to your corporate office, crying about how outraged and disgusted they were with you and how they have spent thousands of dollars there until now, and they will take their business elsewhere. When you have to deal with those types of individuals in a low class setting, and HF is a low cost, low class setting, youre not going to do anything to warrant a call from upstairs.

I was subbing so that I didn't lose the thread

I'm funny. I have a lot of Snap-On tools but I still have some HF stuff too. I use their 1/2 impacts and like them a lot, never broken one of them. I have a set or their 6T jack stands and want to get more. I have their impact swivels and they are just OK. I think for the most part that I use them for stuff like the wiring heat shrink, wire connectors type of kits.

I just bought the Chicago brand of 1/2" corded impact wrench. Have you ever used this impact wrench and what was your opinion of it?

It's not a bad practice but honestly not a big deal for most applications either. It's not like a few ft-lbs more really matters for most of the stuff we do. I honestly only do it 50% of the time. There is also things like for torquing our lug nuts should really be done in a pattern. Start at 25 then go 50 then 75 the 100. But screw that....I go right at 100 :)

We do it at work since we work on million dollar plus equipment with a lot of it being one of a kind

I just replaced my fan clutch and didn't use the "star pattern" and was told it should be fine. We just had a day in the 40's, so the OCD in me went and loosened the fan nuts and retightened them using the star pattern, just so it seats properly with no wobble.

P.S.- I also used the star pattern when removing the nuts...is this necessary??

I don't have that I have the 1/2" sockets but I bought and used a Craftsmen 1/2" corded wrench one once. After that I got this and love it!

Yeah I wouldn't doubt it. I use it on #1 and only until it starts to ratchet then I stop and torque by hand.

BTW that reminds me. I have 3/8" and 1/2" HF torque wrenches and they are fine. They are mostly just used if I'm on a trip or something as I bought a screw type (instead of spring type) Snap-on 1/2" one that I use most of the time

I have a ton of tools from the Ryobi One+ line. Drill, impact drill, impact gun, saws ,and a few other things. They are not super high end but good quality.
The main tool I use from the group is my impact gun. I have never found a lug nut or bolt it won't remove. I paid around $100 for it a few years ago and use it a few times a week in the summer for my lawn business, and keep it in the truck incase I get a flat.

You can spend 3-400+, but defiantly not needed.

Yes, I already knew that. Also, I was told by the cal lab that checked my 3/8 torque wrench many moons ago, to never use a ratchet torque wrench to break loose a fastener. Makes sense to me.

The youtube vid of calibrating a torque wrench with another torque wrench looks kind of hinky to me.

Not HF but I borrowed my brother's Makita compact impact driver during my supercharger install. Hoo-leee mother of doG what a time saver! I ended up getting my own - lithium ion battery, only weighs about 2 pounds and did anything up to a M12 without even breaking a sweat. It'll be accompanying me any time I leave town or hit the trails.

I did add the from Harbor Freight to the carrying case

I wouldn't expect a 1/4" impact wrench to do lug nuts.

    It's not a 1/4". It's a 1/2". I have never seen a battery powered impact that small.
