I was very pleased with the ones I ran on my 1st Gen, purchased years ago. I'm less impressed with the newer ones we bought for my sons 1st Gen and my 2nd Gen. Both of the newer sets seem weak and have similar problems lifting the hood from a closed/low position. (All were/are QuickLIFT Elites.) We didn't really lose hood height with any of the sets, though.

Had to have a couple extra hands hold the hood up (and brace it while drilling)

Came out great, can't believe I let these sit on the shelf for nearly a year!!!

    A thing or two...
I've got Redline Tuning hood struts on my 09 and like them. The only 'issue' that I have is that when I pull the hood latch to pop the hood it releases but doesn't raise at all. I have to hit the top center of the grill to get the hood to pop up enough to get in and pull the lever to lift the hood. Also, as others have said, they're a bit slow going up and don't start lifting on their own right away. Worth it though not dealing with the prop rod.

Probably my two favorite mods have been the hood struts and rear-view mirror relocation bracket from ImMrYo. I've had the struts on for maybe 3 years now and have had zero issues with them. The install was easy, just take your time and measure carefully.

There was a group buy on redline hood struts many years back that I capitalized on. Still running strong! At least 10 years ago.
