I have a 09 DCLB Tacoma. I running some Goodyear Duratracs. Yes the tires aren't great for the ride on the road but I wanting to see what's out there to help smooth out the ride. I didn't know if knew shocks would work or not. I have about 82 thousand miles on it now. Our Louisiana roads aren't the best but I know she could ride better. Any and all recommendations would be appreciated. I'm trying to get my tires to last just one more year then I will be replacing them.

What's going on with the ride? Vibes at highway speeds? Rides too stiff? Rides too soft?

Check your tire pressure, those are probably load range E tires and should be around 35-40psi depending on your truck weight

Are your duratrac's C or E rated? What's your tire pressure? What don't you like about the ride quality?

Running about 35 psi in them , maybe a little more. I do get wheel shake on most roads but it's not uncontrollable. It's that I'm finding the ride in general to be more stiff. The tires have roughly 35 percent tred left.

E rated tires are going to be stiffer. You can try to drop a few PSI to see it that makes a difference.

Wheel shake might indicate an alignment problem or a balance problem with your tires/rims.

A stiff ride could indicate: A) Too much tire pressure. B) Stiff suspension.

Do you have any kind of aftermarket lift, shocks, coil springs, spacers installed?

Running no aftermarket products on my suspension. Under the hood is a different story but I tried different tire pressure. Tried balancing the tires multiple times. An alignment might be the way to go.

There's balancing... and then there's Road Force Balancing.

One works on Tacomas and the other doesn't.

Need to find me a shop around here that does that road force balancing. I thank y'all. Surely didn't know about that type of balancing for the tires.

Personally, if your tires are almost done I wouldn't waste the money getting them balanced.

35 PSI should be perfect for your truck. It could be tire balance, but I would also check your tie rods ends, inner and outer, for wear. Your shake could be coming from there. I cannot imagine your stock suspension being too stiff!! More than likely, it is so soft that it is landing on the bumpstop at every pot hole. Take a look and see how much room there is between your bump stop and the lower control arm. I'll bet it is very close.

82k on the stock shocks? Plus e-rated tires? Yeah, that's not going to be the greatest ride.
