I believe that is the Toyota Hilux. It is basically the European Tacoma.... except they can have diesels

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Most everyone here would not only drive it they would kill for it. Much more capable than the Tacoma.

Lose the snorkel, front bumper, roll bars, oversized rain guards and running boards, and hell yeah, I'd drive it. Rather have a Tacoma though.

    Remove the snorkel and yes.

One thing I love about this truck and folks here on TW,
You show a Hilux and everyone bust a nut, drooling, and saying how cool it looks,
but you show a pic of a RL and its the ugliest truck ever made. They look similar to me:crapstorm:

Let me tell you... we had ample hiluxs available to us in Afghanistan. With an assortment of uparmorments, and weapon configurations. Some with recovery gear some without, and some with just about anything you can think of slapped on it. (madman style) which was my favorite BTW.

It never failed though, that we would race for and fight for the (none of them had keys) for the true tacomas. We only had a small handful of tacomas that typically went to the higher ups. It was always a battle as the vehicle of choice was usually the tacoma. Mostly because of the A/C but also because of their reliability and power in a hairy situation.

Seemed like the picks always ended up in a buggy, gx8, tacoma, hilux, TLC, defender, Tata sort of order.. granted other vehicles existed.. but that was the typical preference of anybody that had half a brain.

I have seen a handful of these in southern New Mexico, all with Mexico plates. They look nice, but unless they have a locking differential in the front, I can't imagine they are that much more capable than a Tacoma. Their selling point must be the diesel engine. Honestly, the few I have seen actually look like they have lower ground clearance, but I haven't measured, that's just how they look to me.

For some reason I always liked the Tata.. for less than 20k you can get a fully loaded 4 door pickup with a small diesel and locking diff. Call me crazy. :notsure:

For the record tho..the Hilux looks like that things dad. If the dad was in the military and the son (being the RL) was destined to be a dental hygienist.

Hilux is ugly. Would like to have its Diesel engine in Tacoma though.

I didn't mean to imply it was pretty. It's like the Tacomas ugly stepsister. But it's cooler than the RL! Looks like we both like Silver sky tho!
