My 98 has 4 in.beefed blocks, QA1 up front, turbo. My 15 4x4 stock looking for lift and tires.
Hey guys just came across some cash at Xmas for a new set of tires. I'm really wanting to run the 305/65/17's OR maybe 295/70/17's.

Can any of you guys offer up any advise on either the tire sizes or which tire would be best for the sand.. Probably going with either The Dick Cepek Fun Country, BFG A/T KO2's or NITTO Ridge Grapplers or the Amp AT's.

Really looking for advise and ride quality and mileage warranty and how well they balance out (to me those are some indications of a quality tire).

Also concerned about rubbing. I've done the 3" lift with 5100 Bilstiens with the OME 887 coils set on the second notch and 1.5 inch blocks out the back and new upper control arms as well. I'm sure I will have to do the cab mount chop loose my mud flaps and maybe some trimming but hopefully not much.

So please if anyone has any advise to help a guy out it would be greatly appreciated.

Also I have the stock front shocks and springs off the front of my truck if anyone needs a lightly used set of shocks and springs fill free to make me an offer. They have less than 15,000 miles on them.

So who in Jax. has the best deal on tires right now, may go shopping Monday

Which ones would you suggest? Toyo open country R/T's look pretty cool.

I wouldn't recommend the ko2's for balancing or for wieght. Good tire imo but no where near the best of those. I've heard good things about the road manners and the balancing on the toyo r/t. Don't know about in the rain though. Ridge grappler supposedly had good road manners as well. Virtually the same tire. Heard there isn't much siping though. Our trucks do great in sand either way because they aren't that heavy. I don't think those tires will have much difference between each other in the sand. Wider in sand the better IMO. Maybe a little more sidewall bite with a tire that has some side treads. Idk. Size wise 305 is going to be wider and shorter than the 295. Either way you may have to trim cmc flaps ect. They both will just have different clearance challenges. I'm going with 305's on my next set, Just want try something a little different from what most run around here.

Edit: this is all speculation from me anyway. But I do currently run ko2's, which I will be selling soon

I run 305/70/17 km2's. I am probably the only person in the world that likes them. Probably gonna run 315's for the next set. Looking at Micky Thompson and the toyo r/t. Jmo I would look at the toyo's.

Crazy enough I don't recall that we have ever met. Maybe this february. How does it feel with the 305"s, any comparison with the 285's? As soon as the funds are there I'm going to pull the trigger on a set. Was trimming worse than 285?

Thanks for the advise and i like you just want to be a little different. Most people claims 285/70/17 is the max you can run on a 3 inch lift but i'm not looking for maximum height. I want width, in sand wider is better if you want to stay on top and that's what i'm looking for. I'm about to pull the trigger on something and I really think 305/65/17 is the best option for width but i'm looking for advise. I really don't care about height maximum width with an aggressive side will in case it drops in the sand at the beach.

    Thanks for the input.

How much lift are you running and how much rubbing/trimming did you have to do to squeeze those 305/70/17s under the front of your yota.

Yes that's why i'm looking for 305/65/17 they are about 1.2 inches shorter but keep the same width. hopefully minimizing damage to my fenders and inner wheel liners.

You're probably going to need to match your wheels the the correct backspace/offset to go that wide. Or run spacers.
