Was this what you were looking for?

You could mount it to the frame under the bumper and secure the connector inside the little box thing when it is not in use.

Or were you refering to this, which would convert your 4-flat to a not quite fully functional 7 round and still give you a hard mount point for a 4-flat?

yeah.....kinda like the 2nd link, but without the 7 wire round plug. can i get just a bracket for the 4 wire to keep it from hanging, or would i be better off just making one?? shouldnt be too hard to do.

Being that my dogs are 50lbs and 85lbs, I am trying to go big (as big as the Tacoma can handle). With that in mind, what do you think about the Jay Flight G2s?

I was looking at going with the 23 FB (right under the towing capacity for the Tacoma) with a quite a few more features for $3,000 more...

    What do you think?

I like the floorplan, but I am not a huge fan of the aluminium siding look, Asthetically I prefer the smooth gelcoat sides.

You may want to consider the regular jayflite instead of the G2. the 22FB comes in considerably lighter for the exact same dimensions and floorplan.

Difference between the jayflite and the G2 are that the regular model uses maple cabinates and brass hardware, and the G2 models use oak and nickle hardware. and I think that the G2s might come with a tv/dvd player where as with the regular model you would have to supply your own, but at 3 grand less that is a hell of a nice tv you could buy for the same money, and if you can get the same floorplan for less money and less weight, then why tax the truck for some fancier wood and hardware. It would also keep some of your money free for the things you'll need like a brake controller, and dual cam weight distribution adn sway control system, as well as the hundreds of things you'll find that you need once you get to camping world for the first time.

Just my $0.02, your mileage may vary.

I have seen what you are describing, but I could not find it on the internet lastnight, but check your local truck and auto accesory center or your local camping world you should find it there.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize that this is a temporary solution. I think the 218, 199, or even the 197 would work just fine for me. I wouldn't need any TV/DVD player as i would have to setup my computer for work anyway, and I have nice big screens on it.

Cabinets? I really could care less. Upholstrey? I'd change it if I didn't like it. I just need to make sure that I get something that I can live in (and keep my dogs cool while I'm at work) and then use as a camper once I get another house or apartment. I am tired of being tied to my home anyway. Time to make a run for it. :p

Don't suppose you'd be willing to sell your RV in a few months (once my house sells) so that you could upgrade?

Another question - what do you think of the 213?

I like that one. I am not sure if I like it as much as I like the new 199, but I like it. I like that the bed doesn't take up actuall real estate in the trailer, but I think I like the j-steel sofa and dinette in the slide out of the 199 a little better. I like open floor space, I think the 213 makes for a better long term living unit, however, the 199 makes for a better recreational vehicle after the fact. Though like I said earlier I do not think you can go wrong no-matter what Jayco you choose.

The 213 uses a bunk according to the description while the 199 uses a bed according to the description. I make the distinction because our 197 uses a bunk, and it was among the more uncomfortable places I had ever slept untill we put one of those $150 memory foam mattress topper on it, and now we sleep like babys in the trailer. Perhaps the "bed" is more comfortable than the "bunk" so depending on which you choose plan the mattress topper into your budget.

I can't do that, I have put far too much blood, sweat, and time into our current trailer with upgrades and mods to have to start all that over again, kind of like how I don't want to have to re-do all the mods on the truck. Sorry 007, you'll have to get a new un-modded trailer, but I'll talk you through any of the trailer mods you might want as well.

    Let's see,

My trailer didn't come with a tank monitor system, and not being one to half ass it I installed a See-level tank monitor system. Which mounts to the outside of the tanks and uses measured resistance to display the level of volume in each of the tanks. This type of system will never be fouled by soap residue in the Grey tank and never be fouled by things less pleasant than soap residue in the black tank. It also monitors the fresh water tank, the propane tank, and the state of charge of the battery as well.

I ran a completely new circuit and installed a light in each side of the storage bay in the nose of the trailer so I can find what I am looking for no-matter what time of night I need something.

Fishing rod mounts in the storage bay, awning handle mounts, broom mount, stabalizer jack handle mount, snap-up bracket bar mount, extra fire extinguisher. Extra towel rods in the bathroom,

Ipod interface for the radio. Pioneer TSA series speakers, mini blind hold downs for travel, lower faucet in the kitchen to prevent so much splash back from the sink.

That is just the ones I can remember off the top of my head right now.

If it were not for the need to mod my trailer, and the 6 bicycles that I am responsible for between the wife and myself, I am sure I would be giving PB a run for his money for most modded truck.

You've already seen the mod disease attack you with your truck, it will be just as bad with a trailer... Just accept it. :)

Ah, alas, I found an apartment for half the cost of my mortgage that is several hundred feet from my office. So, for now the trailer is a pipe dream. Besides, now I can save my truck for more important things than running to work! :D

Hey guys and gals, noobie Taco owner with a towing question: I'm planning to move my family from Los Angeles to Boston towing a 6' X 12' UHaul trailer (probably 3500 - 3800 lbs when loaded) in October. Considering the mileage I'll be putting on the truck (approx. 3300 miles), should I consider servicing my Taco during the trip for oil and tranny fluid changes? My ride is an 08 Double Cab 4x4 V6 with factory tow package with 750 miles on the OD.

    Thanks in advance!

Negative. Typical oil change interval with dino juice is 5000 miles, I'd suggest that you switch to synthetic before the trip anyway, and the tranny fluid will be fine.

You should be good to go.
