HID on foglights?

Like the title says, has anyone installed some Hids on their foglights to replace the halogen stock lights? I currently have 6k hids on my headlights but I was wondering if the foglights cover would melt?

Please for the love of god do not put HID's in your fog lights.

If you want more light out of your fogs get the Morimoto XB Fog Lights, or Lexus fogs.

 

The housings for fogs and headlights are completely different. Don't do this unless your plan is to blind everyone on the road.

 

Just like everyone else said, they'll scatter too much for such an intense light. I found some yellow LED's on Amazon that worked well, kept a stock pattern and don't scatter nearly as much.

The morimoto xb led fog lights are great. Installed some over the weekend and I was amazed great output, and a controlled light pattern/beam.

 

Yes, install..... then have someone u know come by in some kind of average grocery getter camry, accord, bimmer, whatever car.... nothing dropped or lifted truck.

Find a parking lot 1 night, park truck with just the fogs on.... have friend park car in front of truck. Facing away from it maybe about 6 feet away. Sit in the car and see if ur blinded.

Then try it with the car facing your truck and park..... offset to an imaginary right lane, 2 car lengths away i guess?
Sit in car, see if your blinded.

Figure out what your gunna do from there.

I dropped hids into my 2nd gen fogs about 6yrs ago, did this test using my girls car as an example of other drivers (stock mirage, not lowered)... realized i couldnt see shit beyond the terrible scatter from the trucks fogs. Immediately ripped em out and sold em.

The housings on a 2nd gen were developed by engineeres to focus a halogen filament, not an hid arc... a filament is stationary, an arc of electricity is not.

Maybe a 3rd gen can handle this better..... i dont know, but as for melting, i doubt thats an issue.

Love all the sarcasm.....!!!! I like a 3k hids in my fogs in my Tahoe and duramax it's always worked nice.... don't have fogs in my Tacoma but plan to do leds....

 

Yeah they work fine for you... but other drivers on the road.. no.

I don't run them in traffic... I have a7 mike drive in rural western nc deer and fog are terriblealot of mornings. I work6-2:30 hardly ever even meet a car on the way to work. They really help me keep an eye out I've hit 4 deer in 3 years!!

Im curious then....

Do those goofy ass stick on "deer warners" actually scare off deer, or do they cause animals to be attracted to the sound they supposedly emit?

 

Silly hunters.... all camouflaged, setting out deer piss, waiting for hours.... meanwhile, u get a 10p just going to work by using your deer call on the car.
