yeah I should have been more specific with my post, All-Pro are a lot more expensive then Avid for what I need from a slider, see I just want the basic with none of the additives, not even the powder coat (since im gonna rhino line them) and with the TW discount it came out to $297

I dont see sliders on all pros website for under $500 or is there other sliders other then the Heavy duty? maybe im just looking in the wrong place

 

Put mine to the test the day I installed them.



That scrape you see on the passenger door could have been a nice dent if it weren't for the sliders. Truck was literally sandwiched in that pit. I also bottomed on the driver side slider in that same pit. Glad these are as strong as they are. And they look fantastic.



I measured my clearance before and after. Lost 1/4" with my stock suspension on a 3" leveling kit.

 

They have a standard duty option for $389 regular price.

 

I did a ton of research before getting in on this group buy. There are a lot of fantastic products out there, but I found these we exactly what I was looking for. Yes, they are over engineered, but when it came to protecting our truck, that is what I wanted. The fit and finish were awesome and the customer service from All Pro is top notch.

You would not be disappointed ifor you invested the money in these.

^ This. Avids are NOT sliders. Their claim of adequacy for light offroading is even suspect. Unless offroading to them means off the driveway and into a grass backyard.

 

I agree if they are bolted to metal under the cab and take a hit, the cab is taking a hit.

 

whats the benefit of additional drilling and bolts/welding, im genuinely interested since im gonna be buying some soon but I do mild off-roading but plan on doing bigger stuff in the future (but nothing like rock crawling just moderate/tough trails), is there that much of a difference?

 

I was about to order some from Avid but now Im having second thoughts, whats everyones thoughts on the weld on sliders from Avid

 

Those bolt to the cab just behind the pinch weld. If you want them for looks, go for it. It's a side step that looks like a slider. If you want to do any kind of off-roading with the remote possibility of bottoming out, consider real sliders.

You're on the wrong thread for that question. There is a thread called "second gen sliders" with a complete list.

 

Putting a rocker panel against a stump, tree, rut, or rock is pretty much an inevitability if you spend enough time on a 4x4 trail or even a slick fire road. Welding or bolting sliders to the frame will keep your rockers and adjacent sheetmetal from being damaged. They are the one piece of trail armour that I would consider a necessity for most drivers.

Edit - As far as difference goes, yes. Anything that bolts to the cab will transmit energy to the cab and damage it. A properly designed and installed slider can support the weight of the truck (probably more) without any damage.

This is upsetting at this point, I waited every Friday for my sliders to ship out Monday, and every Monday for them to ship out Friday. I have been waiting for my email to come through in "3 hours" with shipping information since Monday last week. I know the allpro number off by heart now and a few of the employees by the sound of their voice, still don't know what my sliders look like though....

 

I ordered extreme apex sliders on May 6th... will be at my door tomorrow May 16th.

 

Late to the party but I finally got mine on yesterday. Thanks @allpro, they look awesome. Can't wait to beat them up.
