also my hatred isn't unmerited, I worked at a job that all but one of the trucks were Silverado (2 half tons and 3 3/4 tons and 1 1ton) there were only about 10 employees and we ran 3-5 man crews depending on the job but they had to have that many trucks cuz at least one of the trucks were always down (granted we worked in these trucks and hauled and towed 4 or 5 days a week, we installed storm shelters) but most of the loads were on the 3/4 and 1 tons which are "designed" to do so. one leak about a qt of tranny fluid a week and we started putting lucas tranny fluid additive in it when it was low, until that's all that was in there and the leak slowed way down then... of course that's like 70 weight haha. seals would go out once a month on something all the pumps failed regularly, and the regular cab oil drain pointed right at the exhaust crossover, so at the very least it got covered in oil when we changed it, if it was hot we got a face full of black smoke.
my wife also had an 05 cavy when we got married that the notorious gauge cluster from 00-06 went out in so the speedo would go crazy, temp gauge too, and the gas gauge would some times roll over into the coolant temp gauge... so you never new how much gas was in it unless you just filled up or just ran out. before it was 6 months old it was on its 3 torque converter (covered under warenty but still) and it had some persistent fuel leak issues under the hood so my garage always smelled like gasoline.
and they don't make a vehicle that's easy to work on, you always have to that half the truck apart to do anything to it.
