Yeah I was too. But when I got the truck I had a pleasant surprise. Unlike our American neighbors we get body colored bumper caps. On the TRD Off Road Access cab they are a horrible chrome color.

There is one big con to the sunroof, if you are 6'3" or taller your head hits the roof! Both my friend and father in-law have this issue.

Agreed. Does the TRD Off Road DCSB come with the locking differential? If I'm reading the website correctly it looks like it nor the TRD Pro come with the locking differential, only the AC TRD Off Road.

Hey guys, new to the forum here. From Markham, ON, just recently (May 2016) got into a 2016 MGM TRD Sport.

Was looking around for HID/LED options for the front lights, and ended up stumbling on the Morimoto XB LED (Type T) fogs on Amazon.ca. They're going for $141, plus tax with FREE shipping. I haven't seen the offer posted up on TW as of yet, so I thought I'd share it with you guys.

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00XA3C2FA/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the cheapest I've seen them, as TRS has them for $170 USD, plus we have to pay for shipping to Canada.

I had morimoto HIDs on my previous vehicle and absolutely loved them.

Just make sure the projectors on the taco wont spread the light around and blind others and you should be very happy with them

    Hey all,

I'm currently looking into getting a gen 3 Tacoma to replace my VW MK7 GTI. In the past year I've found myself, more often then not, wishing I had a truck over my hatchback so I figured it was time to start looking into Tacoma's.

My biggest draw back is fuel milage as I commute 80km each way to work 5 days a week. How is everyone on fuel milage? Is it absurdly bad or not too bad?

I'm looking at getting an access cab TRD offroad. Any insights to your pros / cons of your Tacoma's would be great as well!

If you are hoping for good mileage out of a Tacoma you may want to look else where, I wouldn't hope for more than 20mpg honestly. Have you thought about getting the truck and a cheap commuter car like a old Honda civic, they are cheap and get great mileage and are quite reliable.

Well I went through the same thought process that you're having this summer before I got my truck. It may not be as painful for you due to a couple reasons. I'll break it down for you.

I'm just going by the government websites for fuel economy here and I'll use local gas prices from Vancouver (yes I know we pay too much).

When I had my 2008 Acura TSX I was supposed to get 21/28 mpg and it ended up being about 9.5L per 100 km on average
With my truck I am supposed to get 18/23 mpg and I get around 12.5L per 100 km on average.

My TSX had a 65L tank which at today's gas prices works out to being 1.42 x 65L to fill. As premium was required $92.30
My Tacoma has an 80L tank which works out to be 1.20 x 80L to fill. Working out to $96.00

The difference is pretty negligible to fill when premium is factored in and I get around 500 km per tank on both cars.

Unfortunately this would be my commuter vehicle. Right now I have my GTI as my commuter and my BMW E30 as my weekend / fun car. I was toying with the idea of getting another VW (Golf Alltrack wagon) but I just cant justify the need, when realistically I need the utility of a truck.

Great to know, thanks for the breakdown. Currently I'm also having to put premium into the GTI and am really wanting to get away from that additional cost in the future.

Gas prices going up in Ontario Jan 1st.... The "bitch" that rules Ontario is implementing the "Cap-N-Trade" Crap and raising your gas prices so you don't produce so much carbon.....(about 5 cents/liter). So, I guess you guys are all gonna walk a little more..??:canada:

The alltrack runs on regular gas! I'm in the same boat as you... just sold my MK6 GTI, I like the alltrack but tacoma would be more practical DCSB OR preferred! not being able to tow with the all track is a big kicker.

Based on your calculations being about 42,000kms/year, assuming 75% of that is Highway and you getting an automatic transmission, it will cost you about $4700 in fuel each year. Your Golf is most likely costing you about $2500 per year. So it will be about $2200 more to drive a Tacoma over a Golf.....I think it worth it but I am a truck guy.
