Are all 2014 pre-programmed for a fob?

I bought a fob from Amazon and tried to follow those odd steps with no success (truck didn't come with one). Made me assume that my Taco just wasn't wired for that previously.

But, now that I have read more, that doesn't seem to be the case for anyone, so perhaps I just didn't follow the steps correctly. Anyone knows if they were still producing fob-less Tacomas in 2014?

    Thank you!

Make sure the battery in the new key fob isn't bad first. Some of those cheapos come with dead batteries or the fob itself is bad. Every modern car now has keyless entry capabilities. You also may not be waiting long enough for the system to sync the new fob. Check this website out: http://freeremoteinstructions.com/toyota/toyota-tacoma-2005-2014/

Some of the 2014-2015 owner can chim in though. Yours may have to be programmed in via computer.

Thank you; I was about to go to best buy and drop some $300 on a remote start kit, but the only reason being that I can't get a fob at all. If this is somehow a cheaper fix, the remote start can wait. I got plenty of other things to do first... I will wait to see what others say and might try buying another fob.

Have you checked the battery by opening up the housing? I know some of them will have a red light that indicates when the buttons are being pushed. Link to the Amazon fob?

Nope; I ended up returning it. For some reason just had felt strongly like I had gotten the most basic Tacoma ever built, rather than assume a faulty remote.

I see a lot of items on eBay mentioning that models after 2011 will need to be taken to a dealer or locksmith for programming. Can anyone confirm that?

    I believe I found my answer: http://www.rochestertoyota.com/public/images/brochure/tacoma_ebrochure.pdf

Turns out that whoever bought my truck brand new before me didn't even go as far as getting the "convenience package", so no keyless entry for me, as it was an add-on. Great little brochure for features on the 2014 if anyone else needs it. Thank you all for the help!
