I'm looking to upgrade my tires and have it shipped to the dealers for them to put it on. Fuel Assault 18"x9 with the Nitto Terra Grappler 2 265x60x18. Will Assault rim and grappler 2 fit in the spare tire well? Sorry... Noob question...

    thanks

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
What am i missing here? I know that quite a few people do this with the matching 5th wheel and tire for the spare, so i am in no way criticizing... but WHY? As long as it is close to the same size as what you are running, why not just use the spare for what it is designed for... a SPARE to get you to the tire shop for repairs? 5 bills for a wheel and tire that will be hidden under the truck taking a beating from rocks and road grime and shit just seems silly to me. Can anyone enlighten me?

Your spare should really be the same size as the main tires (so important to buy 5 if you size-up) for trail purposes, but I've never seen the need to buy a matching rim. If I was gonna change rim sizes I'd just buy a steelie for the spare - the purpose is to get me home or to the tire shop, no more no less.

Some of us are just OCD that way and the money wasn't really an issue. My 2004 4Runner came new with 5 alloys and I wanted that on my Tacoma, as well, so I bought 5. No biggie.

In my case I NEED a full size spare WHEEL and tire.

If i have a flat up front - there no way in hell my stock spare wheel is going to clear the spindle

You should have seen the spare on my F250 when I sold it. After years of sitting under their almost never used the rim was pretty much gone.

is there a way to protect the spare tire from dirt, grime, dents, scratches while stowed? i was thinking of rotating it into the mix when it's time to rotate tires. or am i just silly?

That would be the best way. But even then, the tire in the spare location would get dirty. Keep the spare in the bed?

actually, tire shop didn't have the 17" wheel Fuel Assault. so went with the 18" Assault with Nitto Grappler

Interesting. The rim of my 12 year old 4Runner spare looks practically new. I'm sure where a person lives has a lot to do with it.

I've never done it but you could porbably buy a tire cover, like the ones you see on jeeps, put it over the spare while on the ground and then crank it up.

Stacked spacer lift, 22x12 wheels with stretched 33's, tow mirrors, bull nuts.
Some of us also do a 5 tire rotation. Mine now resides on a swing out tire carrier though. Previously I ran a matching size tire on a steel wheel for a spare. Stock backspacing on our trucks suck hairy ballsack.
