    Well, there's one spot I know that's open all year. Off Hirschdale Road, east of Truckee. Around Boca Res. and Stampede Res. There are trials off the main road I haven't explored as I was solo. What about Uncle Toms?

    Nice area. I've done a lot of hunting up there. Bocca ridge is pretty cool and pretty easy trail (when dry)but it gets pretty muddy so I'm not too sure it would be open all year. Can't see them allowing trucks to go rutt up all the trails.

    Keep in mind, that all DIRT roads in EDNF are closed now. The un-plowed PAVED roads, like Wentworth Springs road (aka Uncle Tom's), and M.E.T. remain open year round. The gate at the top of MET near hwy88 is closed now, so you can't go further than that, legally.

    50. Take 49 to Georgetown. Then its a straight shot to ice house road and then you catch 50 home. Or run that in reverse

    Was that the spot you sent us on the way back from Nevada that required use of a hi-lift jack, winch, two straps, TREDS, a shoe and an axe to recover our trucks during the hailstorm?
    If so, count me in. :thumbsup:

    you will have to go sat.to be legal as of the first of jan TNF closers go into effect, but as long as there is 15" of snow you can take 13E10 to the 4.8 mile marker if you make it that far. I doubt it I think that is past driveline hill. the loop they did will be closed. I stick to paved roads/or logging roads in the snow. there are a few good ones around. But will be busy this weekend up there. I have spent 8hrs on 80 tiring to get back to sac on news yrs day in the past. I will be avoiding that hwy. But if sitting in traffic is your thing have fun and be safe up there. new yrs day is the worst for traffic.

    Hmmm. Only 30 miles past Eagle Lakes.
    Would have to be Sunday. Once done poking around Boca/Stampede, we could head west from the north side of Stampede, over Henness Pass (6,900'), through Alleghany to 49 back to Auburn.
    You know how I like a loop.

    Works for me. That would certainly help to avoid some traffic on 80

    Okay. Let me check with the keeper of the domestic schedule to make sure I'm not forgetting any plans for Sunday. And provided the spindle swap goes according to plan.

    @Don5352
    Barring any disaster that results in the truck leaving my garage on the end of a hook, I'm in for Sunday. Let's take this to PM.
