Please provide evidence that complaining on a forum is causing harm to the resale value of your truck. Don't worry, I'll wait.........

Besides why are you so worried about resale value if you love your truck so much? Hmmmmmmmmmmm:confused::rolleyes::laugh:

Service Adviser already verified the problem and said this in not "normal behavior" and submitted the issue to the Toyota area service rep. I would not classify this as 'Trivial" - its should be classified as an issue per the service advisor.

Yes. In fact if you visit some of the GM forums you will see GM reps interacting and posting in response to customer complaints and concerns. Just because Toyota isn't openly doing that here doesn't mean they aren't reading it. Here's a fairly concise op/ed which references specific examples of companies being involved in enthusiast forums (oh and BTW this was from several years ago) http://www.csmonitor.com/Business/I...laint-online-Chrysler-GM-and-Ford-will-see-it

Love this, some one says their truck is good, smithy tells them they are clueless.

    Thinking the same thing.

Take the hint, you don't like your truck. Either get rid of it or get used to it. Motor comparing it to a different vehicle.

So two wrongs make a right?

See we knew you would understand at some point.

See my first quoted post, I wouldn't say a jerk. But he did put someone down who said their truck was good.

So at this point does Coorporate think the same thing as the rest of us when they see a Smitty post? Has Corp done any thing to help you out here? Just as you stated to someone who said their truck was good, maybe Corp thinks you got a unicorn and they want to see how much aggravation one person can deal with.

So far I'm two months in, about 1800 miles, and am still enjoying it, but waiting for the day it blows up on me. If I wasn't on TW, this would be the best truck I have driven, but instead my blood pressure and stress levels are through the roof as I am always worried about the 3rd gen problems that will plague my truck.

Corporate provided me a 125k/8 year platinum warranty and replaced my rear carrier assembly; the new carrier assembly is now showing the same symptoms that led to its replacement. Almost every other issue I've had gets characterized as "normal" for the vehicle (harsh downshifts, clunks in the rear end, driveline vibrations from 1800 to 2200 rpms, shift flare/slips et al.) The warranty, unfortunately, has not worked to resolve the issues. In effect, the warranty is only as good as Toyota is at taking ownership to resolve the defects.

    I said additional attention.

I was one of those GM folks that got social media attention from a CS rep when I inquired as to oil consumption in my '10 Terrain. CS rep opened a case for me and directed me towards a service adviser at a dealership who had more information about my problem and how to fix it compared to the CS rep.

No additional attention, no unique resolution. It was just another way to get "feel good" attention. We are all still getting our vehicles fixed with the same priority as we would have gotten going direct to the dealership. The only difference is the Company is helping curb the social media impact on brand appearance by stopping the echo chamber effect that is rampant here.

Toyota's only fault here is not having an engineering fix in place in time to prevent you from complaining about your problems to everyone who will listen to them. It's a marketing problem, and one that can have an impact on brand equity.

    You can stop waiting now...

I am not sure my truck would even turn 2800 at 90 mph. It is under 2000 at 75.

I might be wrong but was thinking Toyota saw the fix on the lower control arm on the forums after denying that they were making noise.

The only fix I performed was selling my 2017, I did like the truck overall but Toyota really messed this one up. Unless they change the trans or engine combo there will never be a fix. Its hardware not software. Although the tsb did fix my R to D delay but that is it.

Nope, some guys on the forum identified the fix, did leg work to get feedback offline and took stuff direct to Toyota.

The internet bitch session didn't resolve it, customers who proactively went to Toyota did. Their actions were outstanding and to be commended. Those are the people that make a difference.

Good points. I'm all for holding manufacturers accountable, but the balance in this forum has tilted from honest complaints to incessant trolling from a handful of very vocal members.

The incessant complaining from this small handful of members is starting to drown out the valuable discussion. Worse yet, it's starting to pre-seed negative expectations for people who haven't yet formed their own opinions and convince people of all sorts of falsehoods. Just look at how many people are convinced that the 3rd gen is somehow slower or less powerful than the 2nd gen despite all evidence to the contrary.

Pop-n-lock tailgate. New radio knobs. Rear step.
Improvements come from competition and criticism. The TSBs for the auto only exist because of withering criticism. Toyota is far too arrogant to respond to anything less.

exactly, before these internet Bitch sessions started most people resolved the issues with their trucks with help and insight from others, not complaining about how their bed mat floats when they go into a tunnel car wash, nobody wants to hear that bullshit just to start up more bitch sessions

Maybe if we're talking about the same year truck, but that was a 1st gen with the manual. It probably has over 100k miles and far less power. But suddenly a manual trans makes it faster than a brand new 3rd Gen huh?
