Wow. 97 people currently viewing this thread, 43 members and 54 guests.

With that number of guest viewers I would venture that quite a few individuals want to know what the ownership experience was like.

Unfortunately, this site is full of Toyota White Knights who will rush in and discount any issues that may be posted.

In the instance where there is no known mechanical failure relative to the noise...absolutely. a noise isn't a problem unless you hear it and it bothers you.

The term "real work" is relative. I would never under any circumstances buy a Tacoma for what i define as real work.

Refer to my post about Toyota replacing rear differentials approving warranty work for what essentially would cost Toyota about $3,000 to reimburse the dealership

And now they are not authorizing it because the noise is still present in many cases.

    What is your point?

To revert back to OPs concern, I think its fair to say it's either one of two things.

    1) Something you may notice that others don't, may tend to bother you while others may easily ignore.

    2) There could actually be an issue, at this point you should let a Toyota service tech know and investigate to see what their outcome is.

Unfortunately on a forum, or ultimately the internet, there is only so much we can do here and right now it just seems like were going in circles especially with some of the aggro towards others. It's best to take it to a professional while it's under warranty and let them tinker with it first hand.

they stopped replacing the differentials after they were removed from the truck and examined by EXPERTS and found to be OK I have never heard of any 2016-2017 diffs failing.

Also, more than a few people were talking about their transmissions getting replaced to try and resolve the cold shift flare that was just an ECU/TCU update.

    Just saying,
Someone complained about the shitty radio knobs....someone came out with a much better design here recently
Someone complained about the chrome grill....dozens came out with better black versions
someone complained about the bumper...now we are seeing tons of options
someone complained......................anyways, you get where I'm going with this. Some complaints are valid, and have helped many...with several actually being released directly on THIS forum. Variety is good!

Yes because it's a bigger issue that Toyota is allegedly working to find a fix for. So that means it should be ignored by your logic....

What I don't understand is if some here hate their Tacos so much, why keep it? There are so many choices out there so trade or sell it for something else. Sure you may lose some money but I don't think I could go on incessantly moaning and whining about something I was never forced to buy.

Or, just like with the transmission replacements, it's a much smaller one. That's logic in action.

I've had my '17 Tacoma for a month, 1300 miles. Love it so far. Rides much better than my 2003 Dodge Dakota quad cab 4x4. Not as much power, but the Dodge was a v8.

Zero complaints from me except the Entune system and bluetooth issues. Googled "Entune Bluetooth issues" is what led me to TW.

I must admit i'm not a car / truck enthusiast like some on here are so i probably would never notice some of the shifting or transmission issues being discussed, but i have found myself riding down the road, and in the back of my mind i'll be looking for some of the issues discussed here.
Thanks TW, you've turned me into a hypochondriac:bananadance:
