I am limping through the process of getting my power steering to work again. I took off the reservoir and have cleaned a substantial amount of debris off the screen. I want to replace the hoses before purging the system. The return lines show signs of leakage. the pressure lines look good. If money was not a problem I would replace them both, and logic says that is the best idea since the debris is most likely from the hoses deteriorating. The toyota dealer wants $490 for the pressure lines and $25 for the return. Napa wanted like $150/$50 and autozone was like $175/$50. This seems like a job that is within my ability to perform which would save lots of money. I am leaning towards the toyota parts. Any input would be welcome. It would make my day if anyone has done this and says the aftermarket parts worked just fine!

In this case, I would use NAPA hoses. They are good quality and the fittings are solid. You can buy them 3 times over and come out the same.

    OME and worth every penny.
even people who preach Toyota parts only, will usually use aftermarket hoses. These trucks are old. As long as the part looks quality and fits right. No problem. I'll stay original when it's cost effective but not going to stress about it. Never going to Pebble Beach anyway.

FWIW I ordered Toyota ball joints and got....well, they were sure different. Similar, but not exact.

I've sold many Napa hoses at the shop I work at and they are very good quality.

I too would go napa hoses. If it were the pump to be changed i would go toyota if possible. Lol with that said however im running a napa reman pump in one of my tacos due to needing it quickly and tight financial situation at the time limiting cost, but its been in action pushing 12.50's back n fourth for over a couple years now and so far has been great....

Since the toyota return line is cheaper than the aftermarket im guessing toyota is only giving you just the rubber line where as the aftermarket is comming with the metal line aswell??

For critical parts, OEM. Like ball joints. Other than that, go aftermarket.

Except oil filters. Go OEM there too
