    A thing or two...
I put the LCE header and cat back exhaust on my 2.7L Prerunner a few months ago. I'm really enjoying the power gains but the noise is getting to me. It's fine coasting, cruising on level ground, or at really low RPM/throttle. Any amount of throttle at speed (passing or going up even the slightest grade) at it gets to be overbearing. Not to mention on the interstate cruising over 70 MPH or accelerating from a stop. If I drive the truck for more than 60-90 minutes, I start getting a headache. I also constantly have to screw with the radio volume, so the exhaust doesn't drown it out.

I'm looking for options/opinions on how to tame the noise to a reasonable level. Would putting a resonator after the cat and before the muffler do anything for me?

    Thanks.

Is your muffler a straight through design?

Have you thought about adding in a resonator?

I didn't look through the muffler when I got the exhaust from LCE, so I don't know if it is straight through. It's a MagnaFlow muffler. Pretty close to the size of the stock muffler.

I have thought about putting it a resonator but haven't bought one yet. I emailed LCE, and they said a resonator should help.

This may all be a moot point though since I'm waiting to hear from my insurance company on the fate of my truck. A tree fell on it at the house sometime on Monday while I was at work.

Vibrant is a pretty popular resonator for the 4.0L guys.
I put on AFE headers / URD y-pipe / Stock exhast.
I had some serious power loss from zero back pressure.
Swapped the factory y pipe and that helped alot.
The factory Y pipe didnt delete all the rasp tho so I needed more sound dampening
I switched to AFE headers / stock y-pipe / Vibrant / Stock exhaust.
The vibrant I put on is "Vibrant ultra quiet resonator 1140 2.25"
Just had a exhaust shop cut the muffler pipe and weld it in.
Very happy with results. Hope this helps

I agree with STUCKINOHIO .... I have 4.0 supercharged , shorty headers, urd Y pipe , vibrant resonator and I went with a WALKER QUIET FLOW MUFFLER..... comes with tail pipe. great flow and it whispers like stock Tacoma muffler but better flow. cheap too . on Amazon.
