The original title included "build" in air quotes. YMMV.

    1. Woot! Called it by eye.
    2. I worked at a trucking company for almost a decade. I use rope in my sleep. I also have a rotary wall phone. Next to my UHF TV antenna.

See that yellow shit? It's always in there. Plus rubber trucker bungies and I have some ratchet straps somewhere...

What's up with that yellow polypropylene, twisted, hollow core crap rope? Its only redeeming quality is that it floats. It doesn't even make a good noose. A man of your character would demand the superior characteristics and quality of at least a braided nylon rope for utility uses.

That crap just came in my old truck, found in the cubbies under the jump seats. I find it completely capable of securing high chairs and strollers.

For actual loads of any substance, I have several bundles of DOT-approved poly rope. Still not nice rope, but it will retain tractor implements.

shit degrades in sunlight quickly, but is disposable, cheap price point and you never hesitate to cut off a chunk of just the right length you need or share with your buddy.

double braid nylon (think marine store) in 1/4" will be your long lasting friend when you need it, and ties much nicer, and reusable than twisted rope. In layman's terms it has a much nicer 'hand' to the feel of the rope.
