IMG_0375[7653].jpg Today I decided to play in the snow, I drove down a slight incline and was unable to steer the
truck to avoid the frozen pond. I ended up getting stuck, Unable to back out,The truck was slowly spinning around and getting closer to edge of the pond,I was worried about
the small tree and bull rushes scratching my new truck, I was able to dig myself out,
There was a minor odour of burning clutch.
    My question to everyone.
Should I be in 4 low or high?
Should I leave the traction control on?
Or our my winter tire's to big(wide) for my truck?
    or
Am I just a bone head head for trying to play in the damp heavy snow.

    Any advice would be great.

    Happy New Year everyone.

    4x4 lo for sure.
Traction control etc depends on your driving skill and how well you know your throttle

Heavy snow packed in tires can turn them into racing slicks like mud in an all terrain. Spin them to clean them.

when in doubt, tach it out. I don't drive in snow as I live in swfl, but we have real real fine sugar sand and sometimes I need to be in 4-low to get through it all - 95% of the time I am fine in 4-high anywhere I go, sand, mud, water, etc. when yo ufeel like 4 high is spinning and not catching throw it in 4-low, take off traction control and you should be golden sir

looks like you bought dedicated snow tires and wheels, what size are they? id definitely go something skinny for dedicated snow setup. all in all doesnt look like it handled it half bad from those videos

If you're playing around somewhere (not high speed) then 4-LO and traction control OFF would be my suggestion. Traction control is helpful when you're on a snowy road and trying not to die, but if you're on a trail or off road in the snow, turn it off, otherwise it will kill momentum and needed wheel-spin.

FWIW, I highly recommend picking up a pair of MaxTraxx if you're ever going to be wheeling in the snow alone. They are phenomenal and worth the price.

Keep in mind that when you're driving through snow like that in 4WD you need to keep on the gas pedal to steer the truck. If you let off the gas and/or hit the brake the truck will understeer and go wherever it wants. You need to use the 4WD to "power your way through it". When you're driving through deep snow you need to keep moving without stopping or spinning the tires, otherwise you may lose traction and get stuck.

How come the clutch was burning? Were you slipping it excessively for some reason?

Be careful with the smittybilt ones. I read a ton of bad reviews on them. Especially for cold weather.

There are some in between ones (real max traxx are way too expensive. I bought the inbetween priced ones. If you can't find them I'll see if I can find my invoice. They were from Amazon too. Not much more in cost than the smitty ones.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I wish I had a manual but they don't make one in the config I wanted. :annoyed:
