Hey! Ray's stature is just fine.
Just because some people are freakishly tall, they shouldn't try to make themselves feel better by picking on people of normal height. :D

Moab rush is over. I got the minimum amount done to make the trip, thanks in a huge part to @InSainFab building me a awesome bed rack and sliders. The massive sliders did get used and they did a perfect job protecting the body. They stick out just enough to use as a step. The bed rack, the perfect platform for all your Expo needs. RotoPax and Hi-Lift mounts store those extras out of the way and easy to access. I can't thank the crew at InSain enough, they did a great job on the EAFTundra.

Some of the other stuff that had to be done before the trip was a 12v plug for the fridge, CB wiring, and my AntiDark. I don't like a lot of fuse holders hanging out by the battery so one simple solution for me was to use some of the empty spots in my factory fuse block. You can buy (or find in my case) the terminal ends and add fuse holders to the empty spots.

Then using split-loom wrap the wires to look factory. I only have one fuse holder now because the factory block doesn't have room for a 60 amp fuseable link.

Long time without any updates. It was a summer full of house/home projects and no truck money.

My major summer project was a garage/shop addition. Needed some prep work.

It will allow me the time to get some more truck projects done without the time limitations that doing the job at work causes.

The trucks fit through the door without roof clearance issues.

I just purchased a thing that will make life easier.

The Tundra, my EAF/camping truck needs work. I plan on bumpers and a new rear axle with lockers. I hope to have these three major items knocked out before RT17. The truck in its current configuration did accomplish 2 multi day trails (RimRocker and White Rim) and it is doing the job well as far as room goes.

In planning on taking the whole family on trips here soon I did upgrade to a 4 person RTT. An Odin Designs 4 person.

The lame storage solution for now. I'm going to have to piece together a hoist system here soon.

    Thoughts on winches......

8klbs just doesn't seem like enough, for the most part. I look back at the go to winch for decades the Warn 8274. The 8274 was used on many full sized pickups from the mid 70s on, why? My thought is the 8274 has the ability to hold more then 2 times the amount of rope/wire as most current winches, that extra rope makes it easy to double the line. They are huge in size compared to most modern winches. The line speed and external brake make this a great general purpose winch. I've been watching the craigslist for possible purchases but they average around $500-600, new is just crazytalk at almost 2k.

    https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&k...&hvtargid=kwd-75943721&ref=pd_sl_5wver1u12f_b

So thinking about heavier duty stuff, I need to stay around 9.5k or more. There are some huge price differences in the winch market right now. Those prices sometimes mean synthetic rope. The standouts seem to be Smittybuilt/Harborfreight for cheap price. Innovation seems to go to Comeup with the side mounted brake (no heat in the drum similar to the 8274 as heat can burn the rope and cause failure). Comeup claims to be water resistant. Some front runners.

    https://www.amazon.com/Superwinch-1...&qid=1483241346&sr=8-1&keywords=superwinch+ts

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/295855--Comeup-SEAL-Gen2-95si-12V-WINCH_p_1427.html

(would require a rope at an additional cost)

    Thoughts? Brand loyalties? Horror Stories?

I'll need to figure out a winch before I start a bumper build. (2 cheap winches for a rear one also?)

The ComeUp claim of water resistance is true. Sealed winch and sealed control box. Best winch I have owned to date.

Badlands just to round out the recommendations.

Hell, for the price buy a second for the rear and a third and fourth for each side.

Not sure how the side would help you but it's got to be major EAF points
