All separated prepped up marked up.. It's drilling time tomorrow. I received "0" spec and "-" spec'd leafs.

 

Since the FS Fail thread.... I started writing down all the stuff I had done already to my truck and where I wanted to end. I can say today there must be an end somewhere in this madness. So I closed the FS thread and decided to post all my current mods in one place just so I could keep some tabs on A) Spending B) development of what I hope to be a badass Overland Tacoma that with a little luck will wined up being my daughters first rig..

Hey. Which timbren bumpnstops did you buy? The off-road bump stops or suspension enhancement? Are you happy with them? Is your empty ride OK? I bought a Firestone Air Lift Kit and absolutely hated it. I cut off my factory bump stops per the instructions and now that I've taken that kit off I'm going to have to find new Factory bump stops or go with something like these by timbren. Thanks for the information.

 

I ordered mine with the U bolt flip kit through allpro. So yes I received and ordered the Offroad version. I can say that I definitely feel when I'm using them and when I'm not. Recently I added the H/C swing out bumper and I really used them on a road trip over the holidays and was very happy with the way they performed with load. Without load I hardly feel them. If you plan on wheeling I think it's personal preference a lot of guys like wheelers super bumpers for the rear because the material is a bit different that they use in production and they are suppose to have less bounce than the Timbrens and allow for better articulation... @MrZoggs is running airbags and his set up looks plush. Hope that helps.

 

Thanks for the info. I have used a set of timbrens on an SUV and liked them. I just recently learned they were making the offorad version. I assume the offorads are shorter than the

Welp just struck out trying to get the holes drilled in the leafs at a local shop. The main mechanic just said it's a slow process and that it's $90 an hour blah blah. Essentially making it seem like it was going to run me $200.. Off to my next spot to try and get this done.

Edit: Success! Not sure if the outcome cost wise yet but what a nightmare getting someone to consider it. I know that I at least have a handshake on not going over $90.00 to get the 12 holes drilled. Should be done by Friday.

Here we go. With the U Bolt plate it sits roughly at 5" off the top leaf. I am still running my OEM 5100 Bilsteins. These colllapse somewhere around 14.5 and extend around 22.5... I'll get the official specs up but these are getting swapped out. I'll have to cycle the suspension at some point after I install the new leaf pack and the B110. I can say for sure that these Timbrens do not compress nearly as much as the super bumps from wheelers so now I'm actually considering leaving the

$82 D29XL Leaf Spring

D29XL out and dropping it in if need be in the future as my truck starts to ramp up to full overland mode.

tortun4 kit with 3000 lb rubber instead of 6k. I've thought about finding some factory bump stops somewhere and put on a set of Bilstein 5100's since they are a progressive self-adjusting shock. Decisions decisions.

 

Do you still have your factory rear bump stops? If so, would you consider selling them?

 

I've been running these for two years in the rear and haven't been dissapointed. I'd say go with the 3k if you're looking for a plusher feel when compressing them. With regards to rear shocks I've talked to a lot of guys on here because I was considering Resi's and 2.5's! The impression I got was run 2.0 and non resi unless I feel that I'll over heat them
and they will fatigue. Translation to me was if you're not pre-running daily in the desert hard save your money.

 

I think I might actually. I haven't finished moving all my stuff into my house and most of my truck stuff is stocked away. Give me a day to get back to you.

Edit: you might want to just grap a set from energy suspensions they are like $20 brand new

Thanks! Yes alignment with these haven't been an issue and only had to CMC running 295's with a little under 2" of lift up front. The only issue is the moog boot is horrible. Tore on the drive home on the passanger side and the driver side recently.
