Okay so my door lock is acting up again at random times. It's a pain considering I have to unlock the door from the back. I know the actuator can be cleaned but I can't seem to get it out of the door shell. What are my options? Will any place besides the dealer take care of this problem?

Order a new door lock actuator motor on eBay (like $10 for two) and wrestle out the actuator assembly from door. It's not a tough job to do and once you do it the first time, it becomes twice as fast.

You've gotta remove the door panels and plastic weather sheathing and two bolts that hold the assembly in the door in addition to the lock linkage. Then it's just a matter of wrestling it out, opening it up and swapping motors. There's several good guides if you search with pictures thst I used for mine.

Definitely worth doing it yourself for the fact the motors are so cheap. You're probably gonna pay a small fortune to have a shop do it

Is this the correct motor? I'm not really sure what I'm looking for

Nah ya want the long shaft version, this is exactly what I replaced mine with:
    http://m.ebay.com/itm/2X-FC-280-w-Long-D-Flat-Shaft-Car-Door-Lock-and-Mirror-Auto-Motor-FC280PC-/282292987901?hash=item41b9f927fd:g:I1MAAOxyi-ZTbLlD&_trkparms=pageci%3Ac120fe19-d137-11e6-aa31-74dbd180e7c5%7Cparentrq%3A613876bb1590a5e295ea3ea0ffc3953b%7Ciid%3A2

I'll say this too, be very careful when opening the actuator clamshell. There are a ton of springs and gear linkages that can fall out and it's not super intuitive on how they go back together. Take pictures and go slow.

Sure thing. One last thing I'll say as I didn't realize it at the time, there is one bolt (10mm IIRC) that holds the clamshell together in addition to 6-8 plastic clips. Take the screw out first, and it opens up super easy. You'll have a hell of a time separating the sides if you don't remove it first.

Well with the temp being 23 degrees here, I opted out yesterday. I'm hoping to get to it this week sometime when the temp gets back up :annoyed:

Update: front doors have been working flawlessly since the replacement. Now, the back door has gone out. :annoyed:

Replacement motors are on the way at least!

Do you think the long D Flat Shaft motor you used would work on my 2006 TRD?

I'm assuming it's the same, worst case you're out $12.

I just ordered a set of 4 motors for $26 on Ebay. Hoping to install this weekend. My dealership also quoted $1000. What a scam!
