So I am curious, regarding the AT Habitat Camper aluminum shell.

Who has this? From personal experience is it worth the base $8600.

    I've called, and got quotes on 5052 aluminum @ .50 4x8 sheets/plates run $1100. (The AT Habitat uses .60 5052)

Tack in all the time to engineer it, the built in tent, foam mattress, etc. It seems like an okay buy, but not that great.

I think this probably costs $4500-6000 to manufacture.

Just thinking about making my own, honestly. I also don't care for the fact that the shell isn't flush with the cab, albeit you have the fold out that acts as about awning to stand under. I get that...

Anyways, I'd like to hear some people who are fabricators of aluminum chime in, as well as current owners of the AT Habitat Shell.

    Check out the build
The company we are working with can probably make a cab height, but you lose a lot of space on the inside.

If you want to check one out call the guys at www.goose-gear.com they are in Westminster, Ca. The units are done very well and compared to the price of a roof top tent and all that requies, high quality camper, a good used FlipPac or a 4WheelCamper camper I think they are fairly priced.
