Thats pretty cool, but the 2005 tacoma v6 wasnt out in 2000. Just cause they say the 57 stuff was certified in 2000 doesnt mean much to me yet...

I want to find out when this specific intake came out. I remember ppl seeming to only be abke to get a k&n outside of ca for years for the 05+ v6 tacoma.
This may have been around i guess, but how so many of us missed it is amazing, and this goofy ass design is something i would hope id remember.

Per the Amazon ad, " Estimated horsepower gain of 5.67 HP at 4727 RPM." Pretty precise figures for an "estimate." But 5.67 hp for $268.00. I'll pass.

I bought it because I wanted the noise. I hated how quiet the 2.7l is. It sounds great now. I would've done the deck plate mod, but I knew the CA SMOG people would give me a lot of grief over it since I 'modified' the emissions system. It's nice to have since it's CARB certified. You can really tell the difference between the stock airbox and the K&N intake. It's a lot louder.

So does the 2.7 rip or not with the K&N Cold Air

Oddly, I commute 880/101/17 as mentioned in this thread, and I noticed with past vehicles pulling mountain roads CAI make a big difference when trying to keep 60mph.

I don’t think flat landers understand the struggle. 4th gear is just a noise maker, and 3rd is worse :frusty:

I may give this a try for fun. I found a place that has it shipped for $285.

Must be the free in me, but I would just do whatever I wanted. Maybe title my vehicles elsewhere.

If you must use the K&N, make sure you use a dry cone filter. My oiled K&N filter fouled the MAF every 2 weeks and I’d have to clean the sensor because of a P0171 code. I put the stock intake back on, and the code never came back.

Also wanted to say, I hate driving down 17

Add a Nitrous Oxide system and it will sound cool if that's what you're into.

    Good luck with your truck.

I totally forgot, I worked at Kragen Auto during college (side note, didn’t pass) and the complaints we used to get from Tacoma dudes over Mass Air Flow issues due to K&N’s was incredibly. I remember 1st and 2nd gens do not mesh well with the K&N oil.

K&N denied it, but we saw it first hand.
