Two chips already filled with only 800 miles on the clock. Both happened 7 days apart.

Ridiculous to me.. I have just over 3,000 miles on my new '17 OR DCSB and yesterday while driving down the interstate, with no one closely in front of me, I heard a pop that sounded like a small pebble. It wasn't big enough for me to even see it but indeed within 2-3 minutes the hairline crack extended out and up the drivers side. Does Toyota do anything to help us on this common problem or has everyone had to pay out of pocket and/or claim on insurance??

Yep, every time I hear a pop that I would normally ignore I am left thinking my windshields going to crack. Hope the new one is stronger!

I find the best thing to do when a vehicle is cold is to turn on the defroster. Yours isn't the first windshield to crack like that. When the cold windshield gets a blast of hot air it can crack.

My 2016 AC has about 300 nicks and about 3 decent sized chips in it from this last trip home. That's the 3rd to and from trip and the first time having my windshield
Get messed up. Had an 06 Colorado that I did the same trip in about 5 times and never got a chip in the windshield. Even had a 4inch bolt fly off a truck doing 75mph in front of me and smack right in the middle of it and it didn't even leave a mark.

Windshield on mine broke at 650 miles, but that's because a guy working on the roof of my work dropped a hammer on it, so I guess I can't be too mad at Toyota.

Three days later we had a windy day and a tree branch fell on the hood and dinged it and the fender. I think this truck has bad luck.

found a small chip at bottom of crack,i heard it hit 3 weeks ago, took this long to create a crack, its 12 in long now.. so it wont be covered under warranty, get this,, got quote for a new windshield, 580.00 from safelite,, i will pay out of pocket, so i thought a windshield without the camera mount, might be cheaper, because i will probably never use it,, the quote was almost double... for one without a camera mount.. WTF..

No issues with over 18,500 miles on mine. I guess I'm lucky because I got a decent rock chip at 300 miles and never did a thing about it. Amazingly, it hasn't cracked yet. TX is pretty easy on windshields compared to northern climates.

    Same thing happened to me.

    I don't tail gate.

Brought it into toyota and they said nope.. can't cover you.

Called my insurance and they said "you have to pay deductible."

I found a glass company lower than the deductible and went with that.......

This toyota windshield from the factory is garbage.

Had a rock hit windshield on highway and now about a 2 foot crack or so. Called local shops and safelite.

Can get Pilkington glass (which I've seen others suggest - mine says DOT 177 fwiw) but one that was also offered by a local shop (good solid # of reviews on yelp and solid rating) also mentioned Crinamex by Vitro which they say makes for Chevy and Carlite for Ford but more importantly stated is more durable. Cost of windshield around $65 more for Crinamex than Pilkington.

Just wondering if anyone else has used or know of someone who got the Crinamex windshield and has any thoughts. Total including tax was around $500.

    Thanks as always.

ps AAA SoCal auto insurance does not offer full glass coverage

I've got Pilkington, rock (well I think it was gravel) hit right at the bottom and made an 8" crack. Had that fixed but now the original ding decided to splinter off a different direction. I can't vouch for Pilkington. I actually asked the glass guy about this and he said all the windsheilds are made to a Toyota spec, you can't buy different 'grades' or qualities of windsheilds. So somehow I'm doubtfull one brand is better than the next but I'd love to be proved wrong.

First weekend of owning mine, we were wheeling and a jeep 2 vehicles up was having problems making it over an obstacle.
He was spinning his tires, with not much luck, peppering his buddy in a 1st gen Taco behind him. He spun a large mud clod
containing a rock that flew over the Tacoma in front of me, hit my hood, then my windshield. It hit hard enough to knock the
paint off nick the metal, and gouged the glass on the way out. I was impressed that it didn't break. I've got a couple chips on
the glass that I saw the impending rock before it hit. Of the places in the glass that have taken impacts, I'm surprised they haven't
    spider webbed out.

So I have 2017 Offroad at about 9,500 miles a rock hits the bottom driver corner gives me a 6 inch crack right away. Splinters to about a foot so just figured bad luck doesnt cost me anything to get a new one just the hassle of making a few calls.

I get it replaced with OEM Pilkington no deductible with gieco. 10,000 miles

So 900 or so miles, two weeks go by driving up north on the 17 following a car maybe 40 yards ahead of me tiny rock jumps up and barely hits the same general are boom 6 inch crack instantly again. NOW I'm like OK what the heck!

Monday comes call the glass place again rock messed my wind shield up whats up with this brand why is it chipping so easy no answers for me.

Have it replaced again OEM supposed to be the best glass.

Boom today 20 min ago getting off the 17 change lanes while a car 20 yards ahead changes lanes rock hits center of wind shield puts a star in my wind shield doesnt splinter yet.

Im upset now this is ridiculous I know I dont have to pay anything out of pocket for the dang thing but seriously is my insurance going to go up. After it splinters this will be my 3rd windshield in a 2 month period.

Im not going OEM again and Im not going with the dealer glass people again they should know this sucks and say something Im

Is there any complaints I can make I think not because they'll just say act of god change your driving habits well kind of impossible in this town with 5 gillion people.
