Pictures first to make you all happy.

    Plate steel: 3/16 in

    IMG_0087.jpg
Working with limited tools, grinder with a cutoff wheel did the trick and only caught my coat on fire once.

    IMG_0088.jpg IMG_0089.jpg
Finished product. Sanded excess rust, welded it up, rustolium paint and a top coat of spray on bed liner.

    IMG_0091.jpg
Installed base in front of passenger side, under the hood. Used the three screws sticking up there as contact points.

Hole in the top plate is to access the lower bolt.

    IMG_0092.jpg
    Installed compressor.

There's about 1/2 in space between it and the air intake so hopefully it doesn't get too hot!

The air filter is inside the air filter box (hole drilled, intake line incerted).

Next up will be the 2.5 gal tank install, wiring job and the hose lines.

Thoughts on front and back connection points or one central one?

    Nicely done.

Question: what is the point/benefit of an air tank if you already have a compressor? Air tools?

Nice. I'll be trying to figure where/how to mount my new compressor & tank when they arrive next week.

Nice work. I'd do just one connection with a longer, quality hose. One less connection means one less connection to leak. Longer hose comes in handy when everyone starts to borrow it to fill their own tires. I've blown a few of those small hoses that come with the ARB and Viair compressors.

    Nice mount, well done!

What model Viair compressor did you go with?

If you ever need to pop a bead on a tire you need some air volume at pressure to help. Also to blow crap out. Like last weekend. I helped a guy blow sand out of his air filter in the desert.

From what I understand, having the tank gives you a bit more to work with (like power tools) and also helps air up that first tire or two a little faster I guess.
I haven't used one yet but it came with the Viair kit I bought so if I can fit it, I'll bolt it on too!

    And what ^ said...

    Thanks!

Went with the constant duty cycle P/N 10007 for up to 37's. I won't do much bigger than 32's so I should air up pretty quick from the 10-15 I like to go down to in the snow/sand.

Nice work! I would be interested in one of these. I have a Viair 400p, do you think that would fit on here?

Yeah, I'm sure it would fit in that spot also. The mount I made was about 1 3/4 inches higher than it needed to be so there's plenty of room in that spot.

    Happy fabricating!

Your design could also work with aluminum no?

    Unfortunately I have no welder.

Are you considering selling some these or sharing the dimensions?

I would buy one for the right price.

It would definitely work with aluminum as well but I'm not as good welding with aluminum as I am steel.

I thought about a price point when I was making it on time/value to me etc.... Not sure, what's it worth to you? It's about 3hrs of work and $20 of material.

I would pay $70, but I would be more afraid of the shipping costs. Do you know how much it weighs?

It's really close to fitting in a flare rate box. Those are under $10 to ship I think. Weight is maybe 8-10 lbs anyway.

    $70 seems reasonable.
